I lived in Kansas for almost my whole life, and the green sky is so true. I knew all about thunderstorms and general stuff like that. But you get the feeling in your gut, you can smell it, and you can see the green in the sky. When that happens you need to be scared. It's going to be some of the worst storms of the year. I once drove through a tornado, I've been through baseball-sized hail, I've been through a complete until downpour where you couldn't even see in front of you, I've been through where the wind knocked down houses but wasn't a tornado, and many other things. And almost every single time it was a green sky, you could smell it in the air, and you felt it in your gut that it's bad. And it's very very calm and eerie

When you get a call late at night from your mother's boyfriend who you've barely said 3 words to in total, most of which having been some variant of "hi". I had to tell the doctors to do what they thought was best because she had coded 3 times and wasn't likely to have good outcomes if it happened again so they effectively were asking for permission not to recussitate her again without outright asking (ie "since you're her next-of-kin, you need this info, what do you want us to do?" while implying they believed it was best to not try again if she coded again). She didn't make it to even my plane's takeoff (I was booked for an early-morning flight not long after we got the call, like 6AM, I know I left home at like 4, the plan to get me to her was made too late to book any earlier of a flight), but only barely so I didn't learn of that until the plane landed. Hardest call of my life was that first one where I found out what happened, but I stand by my decision being the best for her since they probably would have broken ribs in the process if they'd done it and she likely would have been severely brain-damaged at best (not a life she would have wanted, it would have ruined her quality of life) or completely braindead if it worked at all. Trusting the doctors to decide was the best thing in the situation as they had the ability to say "things are looking up and the next-of-kin gave us explicit permission to change orders to our recommendations" while I was out of contact, even though that didn't happen.

The "sound of a roaring train" signal for a tornado is different for each person, but it doesn't sound anything like a train. What they are describing is a low pitch roaring that is at the edge of your hearing range, that you can barely detect to a point where you're not sure how to describe it. It is however very loud, and what is well inside of your hearing range is the sound of wind impacting things like the trees, grass, houses...which are more noticeable as it gets closer. I don't know if it's been said anywhere, but you can also kinda hear earthquakes in the same way. Most ppl may not notice because it's drowned out by everything else shaking, but it's kinda like the sound of something very heavy being dragged across the road, without the scraping or machinery.

Temporary Promotions mean they want you to do the job but they have no intention of making it permanently your job. When they tell you they have to open up the position for everyone for legal reasons but your already 1 of the applucants is to get you to except the temp position and stress because they dont have anyone else. But you will not get the permanent position. They never give the Permanent pisition to the 1 who is Temporary in that position. If they wanted you to do it permanently they would have just made it permanent in the first place. If they can promote Temporary they can promote permanently too. They lie to you so that the employees under you believe they are being managed. So Temporary promotions never become permanent and they never intended for you to get the permanent promotion.
