Honestly I'm more concerned about the stories and I'm sure most other people here are so trying to be in competition saying oh I was here first isn't really cool. This isn't about who was first or who was second. In my opinion it's just weird and immature to State oh I was here first or put first in the chat or I have the first comment here because it isn't about you here and it isn't about who is first. It's about listening to the story and giving your opinion. If you can't sit there and be mature then honestly in my opinion you should probably stay off the comment section.

McDonald's story. Husband has no standing to be upset. He is the one who gave away OP's food without her knowledge or permission, so he deserves any blowback which comes as a result. If the kids had wolfed down their entire meals and were saying they were still hungry, husband should have either gone back to McD's or somewhere closer to get them something else, or he should have told them they could get a snack or dessert or something at home. He should not have given away OP's food, period, end of sentence.

Story 1: No way is the OP a jerk in anyway or form here. The SIL 100% is. The SIL is such a spoiled and self-victimizing drama queen here and she is bringing all of this on herself. She's apparently always been nasty to the OP and the rest of the family can obviously see that and aren't putting up with her garbage here. If i were the OP, i would limit if not completely cut contact with her. She's a total basketcase. Story 2: From everything being said here, it really sounds like the gf either has some unchecked mental issues or a possible condition, or she has a terrible attitude outside of home. There really is nothing wrong with job hopping to try and find both experience and the right fit for you, but if she is going through this many jobs, then i think there's something not being told here. Story 3: OP is not the jerk here, the parents are. All they had to do was ask... or better yet, just leave the car alone, and all this would've been avoided. As for "treating others with kindness".... talk about the pot calling the kettle black here. The mom was doing no such thing with all her comments too. OP is 100% being gaslit and lied to. Story 4: OP is not a jerk at all here, and i agree with the one friend here in that he shouldn't have messaged them at all. It sounds like a majority of people on the dad's side of the family are major jerks and drama lovers and i would probably be wanting to cut them all out if they act this way. It really does sound like they search for something to get upset over. Story 5: I would've done the exact same thing here if i were the OP. You take away my lunch? I'm taking away your lunch.

*Story 1:* It's worse than horrible what this sister-in-law is doing.
@ztutt19
@ztutt19 5 ай бұрын
I think there’s a lot missing from the first story. The OP states that the sister in law was viewed as the scapegoat while the brother was the golden child. Having a random woman your brother decided to get pregnant come and be another center of the universe must be tough. Especially if she grew up as the “stepchild” OP conveniently omits anything regarding how the family treats the sister in law as well as her own involvement. It doesn’t sound right to me.
@Heyden_Weid

I agree. Especially considering when there’s a golden child, the other(s) one gets treated differently. And not in a good way, obviously. For every golden child there is a black sheep.
@MarsJenkar

Even if that is true, SIL is not responding to this in a healthy manner. Her bad attitude towards her brother and his wife (the OP) is driving others away from her, and it's not helping that she's also taking shots at others for being "on the side of" her brother. And even if the SIL _is_ justified in her beliefs, she could probably benefit from a professional on how to deal with it in a more healthy manner.

My brother used to call me the Golden child when in reality he was the golden child. He was given everything he wanted but still felt unfairly treated by our mom (the parent who wanted him). That was the narrative he lived by until I sent a six page text message outlining how he was the golden child and I was the kid she literally did not want around. It's all how the person spins it.
@alpha-sama

The way the SIL handled the invitation was very childish but I agree, I don't think the story is that black and white. Accusing your family of treating you as a scapegoat and your sibling as the golden child is not a typical lash out, I suspect there's some foundation and built up anger behind that statement. I honestly would be very interested in hearing the SIL's side of the story.

The second story: I knew a lady just like the girlfriend. Except she was even older, in her forties when I met her and in her early fifties when I cut contact. She always had extreme knee-jerk juvenile reactions to common everyday mild inconveniences and having to adult. She never kept a job long enough for her to have a positive financial impact. So all of the financial burden fell on her husband. Even worse, they had two kids together. So there were multiple people suffering due to her fiscal irresponsibility. Yet somehow my former friend always had her hair done, her nails done, a full pack of cigarettes and booze in fridge. If I were OP, I would break up with her. She's doing more harm than good and it's turning into a toxic relationship. It's clear to me that she doesn't want a partner. She wants a wallet.

Chat gpt story: One very simple solution. It's so simple it'll blow your mind and will save you a ton of time later on regarding all these family members you need to 'worry' about. You're an adult. Tell the other adults to F-off or ignore them. Tell them they can shove their opinions of how you should act towards them. What are they gonna do? Yell at you? "Roast" you over social media? Oh no, some old Karen is complaining about you on their fb. It's extremely easy to not let people bother you when they have zero control of you or your life. Idc if it's family or not. People don't get to be an entitled A-hole, demanding respect and people's time/effort/emotions.

And maybe SIL is fuller of crap than a Christmas goose. It could be that SHE WAS the golden child but when her brother got a young girl pregnant and suddenly needed some help that things changed and the parents started showing him some extra attention, and that's why she dislikes OP. The fact that she invites everyone, including the children, except OP to her wedding eight or nine years later demonstrates her own princess complex. In that amount of time, a well-rounded, mature adult should have found a way to get along or at least amicably co-exist, and she has not.

He could have made a group chat with them and said that his wife is preggers (I said that that way cause why not but some people will take that out of context so what I meant is "pregnant") but he went to AI to send that text. Honestly if anyone or the person who was/is in that situation make a group chat, send them the news, (if they are as crazy as this person's family and said person wants to cut them off or plans to) tell them that you and them are not family anymore, then block them on all social media like Facebook or something. They are the aholes here. If they had respected OP enough to call and ask to use the car, they might have gotten approval and not had to pussyfoot around to try hiding what they did. Yeah, it's great to find something one likes to do, but there's also such a thing as being a responsible adult, which this woman seems to have zero concept of. She's had 14 freaking jobs in one year and she's 32 years old! I'm not sure I know anyone who's had 14 jobs in an entire lifetime, including senior citizens. What would she have done without parents or an SO willing to support her? Maybe she needs to find out. I suspect if it were a choice between eating or being homeless and keeping a job she didn't like that she would somehow find the fortitude to hang onto that job. Maybe OP needs to tell her that if she quits another job without discussing it with him and them agreeing it's okay that they are done because he can't deal with a relationship involving constant instability, let alone being able to plan for the future.

The apartment block could need the car moved for repaving or striping the parking lot, there could be a fire and the car needs to be moved to allow better access for firefighters, many things could happen. @nadinesharp9766 repaving/ restriping doesn't just happen over night. There is usually 2 weeks notice for such events since they're not an emergency. @@raybonilla1506 There are places where you're lucky if you get a couple days' notice regarding lot work, and apparently the parents live close since the mom said the dad walked to OP's place to get the car. The car could get broken into and they might need to take it to a shop to get windows replaced so the interior doesn't get wet if it storms. There are things that could happen unexpectedly in OP 's absence where it might need moving, so leaving keys with someone close is probably a good idea. Just apparently not with these parents.
