Story 1: If I were the OP, I'd tell every grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, etc. about the ultimatum (with evidence in the form of texts or voice recordings if possible). If the rest of the family supports the OP, then it would really let the parents know that their petty threats mean nothing (especially if the parents are the ones disowned for doing that to their kid).

Story 1: the parents are crazy and toxic to say they're gonna disown the OP just because of his girlfriend's gene that may get her cancer. Story 2: honestly the boyfriend saying "that's pointless for me to take care of your pets" is like saying he doesn't care. Story 3: it's only a few seconds in, if I was the OP, id tell the creepy customer to get lost. Story 4: the neighbors should've been at least considerate and not just keep dumping cigarettes and other trash just cause they can. Story 5: the ex is an idiot, plain and simple. Story 6: changing the last name of anyone is like changing medication.

I once gave my own mother an ultimatum to either choose me, her son, the only child of hers that still lives with her at the time, or my sister's ex-boyfriend that always steal then lie about it and comes back to my mother for support repeatedly especially after my sister broke up with him. Ultimately, my mother already made her choice before i even made the ultimatum, and two weeks later, i moved out and never saw or talked to her since

*Story 1:* Talk about awful parents! If I was OP, I would've told my parents that I'd be staying with my GF, and if they don't like it and don't want me part of the family if we decide to marry, then I'd just say *"Bye! Nice knowing you!"* and just leave, flipping them the bird in the process.

Story 1: Wow, the OPs mom here is a total dirtbag. So much for 'in sickness and in health". Honestly, if the mom and any other family are threatening to disown you just because of this? I think you decision should be easy. They clearly have shown their true colours against the gf and the OP. I would let them disown you, go zero contact with them and get married to your gf. This family is horrible. Story 2: The bf here is a selfish jerk here if he expects you to take of his pets, but won't return the favor for the cats?. I can see why the OP got another friend to look after the cats. Story 3: OP is not a jerk at all for refusing service to this loser... and more people need to start refusing service too. I get that only ordering water and not spending money on things can be annoying, though not insufferable... but to act the way this guy was acting is not acceptable. OP is not being unreasonable at all. I hate customers like this. Story 4: OP is not a jerk at all, this now evicted neighbour is. Just properly disopse of your garbage and cigarette butts.... is it really that hard to do? There's also no way that that was an "accident". Its pretty obvious that it was intentional. Those people 100% deserved to get evicted. Zero sympathy here. Story 5: Cheating is bad enough, but to then not pay support to your kids crosses many lines. He definitely deserved to lose out on chunks of his 401K and other money. All of this would've been avoided if he didnt cheat and didnt try to screw over the OP and the kids... made worse by not doing what he was told by the judge. None of this is the OP's fault, this is all on the head of the ex here. Story 6: OP is not a jerk at all here. I hate it when stepparents come in and try to 'claim' someone elses child like this... its just ridiculous. I get that everyone having the same last name can be easier for legal reasons, but its also something that shouldnt be forced. Also, the OP is over 18, so if she wants to change it, she cna and nothing can be done about it. All things considered here, im honestly surprised that the OP is even in contact with the mom and husband, much less inviting them to the graduation.

Story 1: if I was this op and did not want to mess up every relationship, then I would lie to my parents and tell them that the gene mutation results were mixed up with another persons at the same hospitals by the nurses or the doctor. Although this would weigh heavily on my conscience, this would be the best move if I wanted to preserve both relationships

My son's mother and i were nwver married. She denied me access. He got her last name. I wanted him to have my last name I knew that wasn't going to happen so I at least wanted to hyphenate it. Hers-mine. She absolutely refused and still refuses. "He'll be picked on" was her worthless argument. I figured he could keep both or choose which one he wanted ince he was an adult. But it was absolutely wrong for these parents to erase the dad from her lufe like that.

Story 1: OP needs to grow a pair and stand up to his clearly toxic family. Best to tell them “Don’t bother, I’m kicking YOU out of MY LIFE!”, move out if not already, change his name, and enjoy his new life with his girlfriend. Story 2: The fact he won’t reciprocate and treats your cats so poorly are red flags for the relationship. OP needs to dump him. Story 3: “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.” That guy is a creep. Story 4: Not the jerk at all. The upstairs neighbors are the jerks. They had no right to throw trash in the woods nor dump trash, cigarette ash, and butts on OP’s and other neighbors’ balconies. Those upstairs neighbors needed to be evicted. Story 5: Good job, OP. The ex F’d around and found out, and his new fiancée can shut up. Story 6: Pfft! It’s OP’s life! And besides, they changed OP’s last name before so they have no right to get angry. OP is not her stepdad’s property, he is treating the last name like a cattle brand. OP didn’t try to make a fool out of them, they can do that fine all on their own.

Women take all the risk involved in child bearing then are forced to take all the financial risk of raising the child. Yet you don't want to take any responsibility in that situation? When the government makes the man pay for child support? $1k+ Both parties consented to haveing a child, that is a risk she wants to take, no one is gorcing her to beare a child. Why is the child always left with the mom that makes LESS than the father? Shouldn't the child be given the parent that earns the most money, to ensure the child has a good and stable life? Taking money out of someone's retirement is awful, you get penalties for taking money out early. I'm guessing you are one of those white knights that just blindly defend any woman, Pathetic.

Story 1: I honestly think you are acting like the ideal man since you’d be willing to stay with a girl while she’s battling cancer and since youre parents immediate reaction to this news is to give you an ultimatum to breakup with her means they’re so toxic they may have suffered brain damage because of it. 2nd story, get rid of your cats. He seems totally open to taking care of your dog, so he's clearly just not a cat person. Which is going to affect your relationship going forward, because i sense he's not going to want to move in with you or marry you if you have cats in the house. Trust me, between the smell and attitude, they can be a deal breaker.
