Story 4: from the sound of it it seems like the OPs entire family all wanted to basically move into that vacation house and take it over. If nothing else a vegetable garden takes almost daily tending, so it would probably require OP's mother to basically move into it full time.

Either these people are underestimating the effort their summer plans would take, or they’re intentionally leaving it vague how much they want to be around. Little of both I’d imagine

On the third story, op you are NOT the jerk in this story, they ARE.They like you said made it public,you had a Contract and they tried to change it without talking to and asking if you would change your day off, so they ARE the jerks and deserve the fallout of their actions. Great job op.

Story 2: Oil spills are a really big deal. To say that the EPA frowns on oil spills would be a massive understatement. OP probably saved the company a crapton of money in EPA fines.

The Lakehouse story: The families are participating in textbook gaslighting by trying to flip the script on OP and their husband. What's happening with the mother demanding keys etc is exactly what OP thought would happen. NTA

Story 1: “You want my seat? $500/£500! No? F* right off.” Story 2: Serves them right. Don’t piss off the person picking your parachute. Story 3: NTA. I got locked out of the house by the two little monsters I had babysat. This was before everyone had cell phones. The neighbors weren’t home. I couldn’t find a spare key. The parents got mad that I was locked out, despite the fact I told them what had happened. I said if the kids had gotten hurt or if there was a fire, I wouldn’t be able to help them if locked out. They stiffed me out of my money, so I spread the word about them and no one would babysit for them. They threaten to sue me, I threatened a counter suit. They did pay me eventually l, because I had told so many people that as a result other kids came forward about being stiffed by them. It got to a point where the other parents threatened to take them to court. I still made sure to blacklist them even afterwards. Story 4: NTA. They are not entitled to your property. Story 5: NTA. It’s clear where you are in his priorities list. Story 6: I _hate_ these sort of customers. When I am waiting tables or stocking shelves, these customers go out of their way to pester me even though A) These morons can _clearly_ see that I’m _busy_ and B) There are two or three other coworkers I have who offer to help them, but are brushed aside because these customers want _my services!_ It’s really bad when my stupid workplaces won’t provide us with an adequate break room or when they won’t let us start locking up until five minutes before closing and expect us to be clocked out and outside on the dot of closing time…especially when these last minute before closing time customers descend upon the business in a manner befitting a plague of locusts.

OP of the Second Story: *Mentions EPA* Me as Abe Simpson: Beware, beware! Time is short! Eepa! Eepa! Eeepaa! Believe me! Believe me!
@Regden10009 ай бұрын
The third story. The OP isn't the jerk and shouldn't feel like one. The mother and father made a written agreement with her when she could take time off from babysitting. If the mother and father made plans with another couple and forgot what was in the agreement, all they had to do was give her a call and ask if they could change the schedule a bit but no they expect her to be fully attentive to their needs even on her day off. Then when they are angry at the OP their first knee jerk reaction is to complain on social media about it , don't do that if a person has irrefutable evidence that you were in the wrong. If the couple wants to get back on everyone's good graces they should make an apology video or letter to the OP and post it on social media to show that they aren't stuck up jerks.

For the Valentines/Birthday story: I get not being a good gift giver in thr beginning of a relationship as you truly do not know what the others likes and dislikes are, what they do and don't have etc .. BUT after 4 years together, 3 of which under the same roof, that no longer applies!! They should know you as a person and should know what make you happy, even if it is just a cake, dinner and snuggles on the couch watching your favorite movie! Hell, if you're still struggling to find something, THEN ASK A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER for help! He had a mom who by the sounds of it knows you better then he does!!! But to do nothing, for ANY of the holidays in a year, that is plain selfishness! Time to move on! This guy only thinks of himself and will never change!
@DoctorOaks9 ай бұрын
You don't even need to give a gift necessarily. Just do something for them, like cooking their favorite meal for them. Spend the day watching their favorite tv show with them or something. OP just wanted to spend time together on an important day, but the BF couldn't be bothered.

Story 5 - I can relate to that. Not that they were important to us or even me but we ended up divorced. I remember that someone casually told me that we should celebrate but I stupidly shrugged it off. Apparently, it is a red flag. So hope OP take it seriously and stop wasting yr time with him

My husband is nothing the best at thinking of gifts BUT he does ask for hints and has gotten some great gifts. My sisters husband on the other hand does not think of anyone but himself. He has only gave my niece money once to get something (not a lot) for her birthday in almost 38yrs together. No Christmas, valentines or birthday presents apart from that one. Not even on special occasions such as 30, 50, 60and everything in between. Even my husband was shocked but as he does NOTHING around the house or garden. Even when he is now retired and she still has 3yrs to work. He actually said she needed to get some sand to level out a slab on the pavement. She was roughly 62 at this point. All their time together he has been a hypochondriac. Again hand on heart. It’s a standing joke that you whisper when you have something wrong (illness) with you. I just wished she had found someone else. Please please do not be like my sister. NTA. Your boyfriend definitely is. Good luck OP you deserve better. 🙏🏻

*Story 1:* Talk about rude! If this couple had reserved the seat on the coach, it would've been one thing. But whatever made them think they *"deserved"* this seat more than OP? That's just so wrong! They could've taken other seats on the coach, what made them think they're *"entitled"* to *this particular seat* on the coach? I don't get it.

#3 you're not the jerk I'd not blame you for leaving him, one of the two dates should be celebrated. My family is the same way after my nephew was born the day before mine after I turned 10 I never had another bday, not even a card. Plus my ex never celebrated my bday or our anniversary. I left him and my family.
