Hi Amith I'm from South Africa 62 years old, I must I did not know so much about our Indian sub continent, Indians are very tollerant and that's why the rest took advantage of their cool character, the saying is what "goes around comes around" and the fact that you brought this history forward , it's an alightenment to modern people, I really appreciate your work, which is perfectly applaudable, sensible and interlectual, I agree with all your hard work and keep it coming to educate today's society. Thank you my son, You are blessed, may your social media reach every part of this world. Made me wiser. From this side of the world. JAISHREERAAM. 🙏🙏🙏

Yes, you are right, I too have read that somewhere. Actually Ashoka couldn't realize the teachings of buddhism until he witnessed how terrible could be the path of violence. After the Kalinga war he took lessons about Buddhist ideology once again ( probably from Upagupta) and decided quitting violence.

I must have watched quite many videos over the years, documentaries by reputed channels even..none of them come close to how eloquently put together this video is. I must also appreciate your voice modulation and speed, it helped greatly in focusing on the topic. The times that you revisited a certain point without making it sound repetitive was a tad bit genius. Please continue creating such work. Thank you for all the time you must have put into making this. Best wishes.

Greetings Mr Amit Sengupta.. I am indian origin from Hong Kong and a big fan of your work which reflects detailed explanation and the efforts which you put in each and every video of yours.. kudos!!! I recently came across some valuable information in terms of Indian ancient history, thought of sharing it out here. There has been a complex problem in Indian chronology arise from a misunderstanding of the Epochs of Ancient Indian Era. The Kurtakoti copper plate dated SAKA 530 referes to a total solar eclipse occurred on 9th May 53 BCE in karnataka which conclusively establishes that the SAKA era commenced in 583 BCE whereas, the SAKANTA era commenced in 78 CE. Historian Mistakenly mixed up these two epochns which let to a chronological error of 660 years. Out of 2 Contemporary Copper Plate Evidence found at Pranaveshvara Temple (Talaguda), 1 plate is dated in the SAKA ERA whereas, another is dated inthe SAKANTA er. Apart from this Era of 660 years, later JAIN historians inadverently identified Ujjian King Chandragupta, a disciple of Bhadrabahu with the Maurya King Chandragupta which made Mahivara, a contemporary of Buddha. In reality, Buddha attained Nirvana 675 years earlier before the year of Mahavira Nirvana. Puranas and the Burmese inscriptions clearly indicate that Buddha attained Nirvana in 1864 BCE. Recent Excavations at Lumbini and the radiocarbon samples collected from the Trench C5 at the centerof the buddhist shrine at Lumbini indicates an earliest date of 1681 BCE. Thus, there is a Chronological error of 1380 YEARS in dating of Buddha Nirvana due to mixing up of two different epochs of Saka and Sakanta eras, along with the mistaken identification of Chandragupta, the disciple of Bhadrabahu. The dating of Buddha Nirvana in 1864 BCE also validates the traditional date of Adi Sankaracharya in the 6th Century BCE. - Hope this info might help ppl who are amid history lovers including self. Having said that i always look forward to all your outstanding videos...cheers !!!!

If you take any mighty kingdom(The Mauryas,The Marathas,The Mughals etc etc) from Ancient and medieval India, you will see that they expanded their kingdom completely in the north(even till present day Afg/Iran) and even till southern karnataka but they did not conquer present day Kerala and southern Tamil nadu. Why is it so? I have a Genuine doubt so it will be really helpful if someone can help me get the answer. Thank you

@Gaun Yin There is no conclusive evidence to prove that he wasn't already a Buddhist. A minor rock edict mention points to him being a follower of Budha. Some say he was horrified by the killings, but for someone who killed all his half- brothers and fought a civil war for 4 long years and invaded Kalinga in his 8th regnal year, this seem like an overstretch. Also, no where he mentioned about the regret in any inscription in th east. Only place, where he warned the tribes to not force him to take extreme measures is in the western side....Also, he didn't become a pacifist either as portrayed by many( Ashokvandana mention him killing many Ajivikas and Jainas).

@Gaun Yin Strange that while constructing a narrative Buddhist sources( Sri lankan) are used but that too selectively! They seem reliable while writing about Shungas though! That being said, didn't he fight a civil war ? Did he not threaten to use violence against law breakers in the same edict where he also regret using violence but would Do it again if need be(Shehbazgarhi)? Didn't Ashoka invade Kalinga in 262 BC whereas we know from minor rock edicts that Ashoka had converted to Buddhism more than two years earlier(minor ones being the earier than the Major Edicts). Also, name one Buddhist text which link his conversion to the war? Wasn't his transformation gradual rather than sudden as he seems to have had links with Buddhists for a decade before his conversion? Which Rock edict deny this?

@Gaun Yin I don't recall him apologizing to people of Kalinga where he waged the war if one goes by Dhauli inscription. Also, I never said that he hadn't changed after Kalinga war. It's the assertion that he became Buddhist AFTER the War need be supported by more vidences, which so far are lacking. His Rock edicts don't establish that hence relying on available records even though they belonged to posterity. Those very evidences were also used to construct a narrative that Shungas persecuted Buddhists. As to usage of Sanskrit and Maurayas following heterodox sects,I think that's a common knowledge. So, I still by my comment that he Buddhist even before but after the war he focussed more on consolidation of empire and with age took religion seriously as evidenced by his erecting stupas and edicts that called on people to live peacefully and other such general instructions.

You might be right that Christianity wasn't as big in India until the Europeans came, but there were some Christians in India much earlier, possibly close to earliest days of Christianity (the "St. Thomas Christians" trace themselves back to 52 CE,when the apostle Thomas supposedly landed in India), and these Christians do not follow the European denominations of Christianity.

Christianity isn't there at all India. Europeans came and they slowly spread Christianity. This video clearly tells Muslims and Christians are not at all from this country. If you dig out the roots their ancestors all are santanis.

@@TheMark167 That's what historians wanted. In those times whoever goes and conquers a new place the first thing they do is to destroy the history of that period. Clearly, see who named Hindustan it matches the name with other countries Afghanistan, khajakistan, Turkmenistan etc. After that who gave the name INDIA what did they do. There were nearly 600 princely states means 600 kings and queens literally but now there are none.
