My dermatologist told me when I 20 years old, stay away from sun and use sunscreen, and 15 years later I can tell you this is the best advice for my skin, I see a huge difference with other people, my skin look much. younger she clear with no sunspots, my face is still full because my dermis is not damaged by the sun. I use retin a and I do some peel since also my 20 oh my gosh my skin looks just amazing. Collagen and elastin are the mattress of the skin so take care of them.

Question: If your treatment for facial aging at the bone level is to put hyaluronic acid fillers between the muscle and bone, then how does the facial muscle stay attached? Hi Dr Prasad, @5:05 you mentioned about bone loss to the face. Does this happens uniformly throughout a person's skull, or it can be more in one place than another? Or does it vary in every individual? When you treat a patient, do you usually prefer treat the volume loss first? or treat the skin quality first? Thank you once again. :)
@AmiyaPrasadMD

Hi, Facial bone volume loss is usually concentrated on the cheeks, jawline, and chin, so these are the primary areas of treatment. Diminishing skin quality usually occurs a little earlier than significant bone loss, but for many people, they are experiencing both at the same time, and both can be treated. Hi mariama boumia, I'm not familiar with plasma sculpting, but collagen and hyaluronic acid pills would get digested by stomach acid, and won't be their original form once digested. @@AmiyaPrasadMD Can you expand on your idea that there are limitations to how much collagen can be stimulated through in office treatments like RF and Laser? I saw a comment from you that the body’s ability to replenish collagen dips 1% every year, but that doesn’t seem like a meaningful amount to me. Seems like a nominal amount to me. Are you saying that for someone in their 40s and up they are actually getting diminishing returns on collagen stimulation?
@AmiyaPrasadMD
@AmiyaPrasadMD 2 жыл бұрын
Hi@@thad8909, Collagen in the skin is reduced by 1% every year, so with aging the skin loses its strength and elasticity, eventually resulting in skin laxity. While collagen induction treatments work, there isn't an unlimited amount of collagen you can induce the body to synthesize. Complications from these treatments usually happen when someone wants to avoid surgery, so they insist on stimulating more collagen to tighten, and lift the skin, but end up damaging the skin, and losing facial volume, so they end up looking older instead of younger, and could also suffer injuries like burns. For more information, you can refer to these videos about complications from collagen induction therapy, and how these treatments can be made safer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2exmJZ3n8qWfdE kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGbPqWZvYshjqac kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYvYq2aGpLmcZqs

Hi Donna Bowman, Tretinoin can help with cell turnover of the epidermis, and improve luster of the skin. There are versions of tretinoin specifically for skincare, as Retin-A can be too drying or irritating. My observation is that there is too much attention on skincare for anti-aging, and not enough to address volumetric loss due to aging. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Dr. Prasad, how long of a downtime do you recommend between collagen stimulating procedures? Do you do multiple at a time if someone is a good candidate?
@AmiyaPrasadMD
@AmiyaPrasadMD 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amber Soots, I recommend 4 to 6 weeks between treatment sessions, as there is a limit to how much collagen can be induced. Collagen production is part of the healing process, so you need to leave adequate time between sessions for collagen to generate. Using more than one mode of treatment at the same time depends on the patient, and their condition, but it's possible. I often alternate laser treatments with PRP to reduce heat exposure to the patient. I hope this clarifies things for you.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Doctor, this video is an eye opener, thank you. What are your thoughts on micro needling (dermarollers)? Is it best to steer clear?
@AmiyaPrasadMD
@AmiyaPrasadMD 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Microneedling with a Dermapen is different from a dermaroller. A dermaroller unnecessarily stretches the microholes it creates with the rolling action, which the pen does not do. Also, dermarollers are usually used by people without formal training in microneedling, so they can be used too aggressively and too often, as compared with a professional with the pen, and giving adequate time for healing and collagen generation between treatment sessions. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Hs. Hussain, I would have to examine your skin before making a specific recommendation. HydraFacial is basically microdermabrasion, but using water to exfoliate, and glycolic acid as a peel, with the added benefit of infusing the skin with different serums. PRP may take more than one treatment session for best results. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Does the Clear and Brilliant laser pose the same risk of overheating as the radio frequency technologies? Is it safe to have a C&B treatment once a year for 39 year old skin?
@AmiyaPrasadMD
@AmiyaPrasadMD 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Brooke Mitchell, Lasers usually more intense than radiofrequency devices. However, it is not the laser device itself that determines results, or the risk, but the practitioner selecting and using the device that determines results, and increases or reduces the risk of the procedure. I can't say what's best for your skin without examining your skin first. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Sandy Mahdavi, You may have had postpartum hair shedding, which is normal after having a baby due to hormonal changes, but this usually requires no treatment, just an eventual stabilization of hormone levels. You should first be diagnosed for female pattern hair loss or other issues that require treatment like PCOS before thinking of medication. I hope this helps you.

Hi@@reemhejles, I also apply fractional CO2 laser for under eye wrinkles in lighter skinned patients, and often alternate this with PRP to reduce exposure to lasers and heat. Hi@@kiranm7084, You won't likely lose collagen while on a diet, but you do need to be careful with your diet as collagen is synthesized by the body with food you eat. You will likely look older while you're on a diet because you will lose facial fat volume, and as people age, they do lose facial volume from loss of fat, bone, muscle, and soft tissue. Dr Prasad, since you seem very straight forward in your approach I'd like to ask you what your thoughts are on a basically unspoken subject no plastic surgeon or surgeons in general will speak about. And, that is the FACT, as it's been proven, that surgery involving general anesthesia does sometimes, more often than not, more harm than good to a patient? There's much data, research and evidence that patients, especially later in life after 50 who undergo surgery involving anesthesia are more likely to establish cognitive impairment and ultimately Alzheimers and Dementia, as well as overall memory loss. As well, anesthesia to the overall body & mind is harmful. In fact, surgery can create a plethora of health problems against what we are trying to "fix" & avoid in having plastic surgery and that, among many things is an assault to the body, face and in turn creating free radical damage and an overall decline in health. I wish there were more HONEST Doctors out there that would speak up on this ongoing issue. People trust the medical community and look to you as healers, but the truth is the majority of doctors are more concerned with making money than the hippocratic oath they swore to "Do No Harm". Many reputable surgeons are starting to realize the harm in general anesthesia and are now taking a more - less evasive approach by using local anesthesia with sometimes iv sedation. I myself have had to go under general anesthesia many times and have personally noticed a HUGE decline in my memory and overall health. Please respond with your thoughts...

Hi Saba Nabi, Scar treatment like acne scarring is best assessed in a physical exam by an experienced doctor, then addressed by a treatment plan that could involve several modalities and multiple treatments. While pictures may help, they don't give details about your skin that a physical exam can provide. You can get actionable advice by booking an in-person consultation with me, or see an experienced doctor closer to where you live. You can also watch this video about why treatment varies so much depending on the person and their situation - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3Ksg4SYftqDqK8

Should I consider fractional co2 laser with downtime of 5-7 days?
@AmiyaPrasadMD
@AmiyaPrasadMD 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ejer Peralta, If this was recommended by an experienced doctor who has examined your skin, than you should consider it. I have not seen your situation, so I can't make exact recommendations for you. You should note that your results are determined by your doctor's experience with the laser, not the device itself. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Doc. I'm 62 with a 11 shoe size. Can you recommend PRF, PRP, Erbium laser, radiofrequency or cucumbers on my eyeballs? And my hair is thinning. Jeez, some of these questions to this Dr. are silly. Luckily the common sense in this video should tell everyone there's only one way most doctors can review and recommend a treatment plan. Face to face.Looking forward to my answer Doc.😂

Good and informative video Dr. Which physicians can you recommend in South Africa?
@AmiyaPrasadMD

Thank you, Zanele Makabane! Although I do know many of my colleagues, we do have different styles and approaches to cosmetic medicine. I suggest you look for doctors who offer both surgical and non-surgical options so you don't get a bias, and try to avoid doctors who are biased toward specific devices because they are leasing them or paying them off. Surgeon who own several devices tend to be less biased toward a particular device or procedure. I hope this clarifies things for you.

dude - first you say lasers eat fat, thin the skin and age you then you say you offer them! this is NUTS! no wonder women are going crazy.

Hi tectonicblond, You are mistaken as I say that laser devices are just tools, and it is the practitioner using them that determines results, and complications like volume loss and skin thinning. With proper use and exposure, lasers can stimulate collagen, resurface the skin, and tighten the skin. With overheating and overexposure, lasers can thin the skin, and cook the fat layer below the skin, causing volume loss. Again, it is proper use of lasers by an experienced practitioner that improves your appearance; but overheating and overexposure by an inexperienced practitioner, or patients demanding a lifting effect to avoid surgery that leads to overheating and overexposure, that causes complications. I hope this clarifies things for you.
