I used to just stop in Wal Mart and grab a couple boxes every month. I went to the range but replaced 1 for 1, have to manage money when retired. But, I'm good here! I was talking to a much younger person who was going to spend near a thousand bucks on ammo because a "Friend" told him " old ammo is old get rid of it"! I explained to the fellow if it's been kept dry, isn't "green" on the casing, keep it! If your nervous take a round or two from each box and go shoot it! It WILL go bang KEEP IT! Don't listen to all the keyboard commandos around. I COULD have given him a couple hundred bucks for a large container full. Can't rob someone, it isn't right! Best to ya',,,,!

I always stack the rifle ammo twice as high as pistol ammo. If it does ever hit the fan I want something that moves over 2,000FPS rather than any of pistol calibers.

I too did what you did for the last four years. Myself I enjoy shooting .22. I also shoot 9mm and .380 but .22 is my go to fun ammo. I’d shoot 100 rounds and replace it with 1,000. I now own 39,000. .22 and the components to make 60,000 9 and .380. Your plan for ammo works

Bravo! Just like you, I have always bought (or reloaded) two for every one I shot. Have been doing this for over 30 years. Every time I saw a good deal, I bought as much as I can afford to add to the stock. Made a big mistake last week -- went to the range and forgot my brass catcher. Of 200 5.56 rounds fired, I only collected 38 brass cases -- the brass deflector on my carbine sent the rest forward of the firing line & the range master was happy to collect my brass. Be well & keep your powder dry!

Learned my lesson years ago here behind enemy lines in California. Purchase piles of brass, primers, powder, bullets, and reloading tools as an primary source and rarely touching my factory ammo except rimfire. The biggest challenge has been closed ranges or limited availability and having to pay double for range fees. Keeping my fingers & toes cross for a Trump Victory for president and Supreme Court nominee.

I also stocked up on ammo from Walmart when it was available. Have a good supply an guard it like gold. Still buy defensive ammo when I find it even though it's more expensive because how much is your life worth. 40 an 45 are my favorites. Also have hundreds of rounds of 762/39.

Love the video Sir! I 100% agree with you on all of us armed citizens sticking together and just helping eachother out when possible. I met a couple of great guys that work in the firearm dept at my local Scheels who will set ammo aside for me when they get their shipments in, as well as specific firearms (new or used) that they know I'm looking to buy. It's a really nice, thoughtful thing to do and I am so very very grateful to them! I would absolutely help someone out if they needed certain ammo and I'm able to spare a box or two. It's the only way things should be in our community, you know we've got to stick together through all the crazy. 👀 🤝 Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, appreciate that! You take care now ✌️

Years ago, I started reloading my own ammunition. Motivation was not primarily to save costs but rather to stay „independent“ as much as I can from (factory) ammo supply on the market. That was a good decision, because brass I already had on hand as well as primers, bullets and powder (of course, it is a good idea to have a good supply to begin with and to re-stock in a timely manner). Another big plus is that I am able to reload odd calibers at a fraction of the cost of factory ammunition, which is often difficult to find. I rather try to find and invest in a sufficient quantity of brass rather than finding a few precious boxes of factory ammunition. If you know what you’re doing, your home-brewed stuff is usually on par or even surpassing commercial ammunition.

@02shooter204 жыл бұрын
That's all good advice. I started doing something similar around 1994 (thanks to Billary Clinton). One thing I also do, though, is that I never shoot factory ammo. I reload my brass and only shoot my reloaded ammo when I practice. Reloading can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. If you have patience, you can start with a single stage press and do everything you need. I buy bulk powder, primers, and bullets. For example, I'll buy 10,000 primers at one time, or I'll buy three 8 pound bottles of WC 844 powder at once. I have enough bulk components on hand to reload every round of factory ammo I have probably 50 times over. And I have a lot of factory ammo. I also like your idea of sticking primarily with just a couple of calibers. I shoot many different calibers, but I primarily stockpile 5.56, 7.62 (308), 22 lr, and 45 ACP. I also have a good amount of 9mm, but I don't shoot it. It would be for trade if stuff really got bad.
@02shooter204 жыл бұрын
I should have mentioned this also.... I started shooting around 1990 and started reloading in 1993. Then in 1994 the AWB came about, and everything disappeared overnight. Not just guns and ammo, but reloading supplies too. You couldn't buy a brick of primers. If dealers had one, they would open it up and sell one pack of 100 at a time. That was my lesson learned. I'll never be caught empty handed again. So stock up on everything during good times. Guns, ammo, magazines, cleaning supplies, spare parts, reloading components, and anything else you might need.

I've been stocking up in 9mm, .38SP, .357Mag, 30-30, .32 WS and 12 gauge for a few years now. Not because I predicted any of this insanity, but because I live in the "Peoples Republic of Connecticut" where they are very anti-2A and have attempted to restrict ammo sales by trying to pass insane taxes on ammunition purchases as a way to control it. Making ammunition so costly that average people would be priced out. Fortunately, that attempt failed to pass but I know they will try again. That and we have to show our pistol permit to even buy ammo. We just have to look at California to see the kinds of restrictive legislation that these state and local anti-2A nut jobs attempt to do to stop our rights. I have never trusted our state and local elected officials to not find creative ways to restrict and control the purchase of guns and ammo. The progressive left will not stop finding ways to infringe on our 2A rights ever.
