This compact portable rocket stove is probably my favorite tig welding project so far. Building it into the ammo can allows it to pack up nicely, gives it a built in handle, and cooks great!

Should make the pan holder prongs removable, and have the end of the pipe capable of fitting a flu pipe, so that way, if you need to heat a tent, or something else you can :)

LOVE the build and have no complaints at all (ignore the fact I'm not a welder)! And I'm very thankful that you are providing the patterns for your subscribers! The only concern I had was with the lid still attached when in use. With that heat near the rubber seal and the opportunity of being a trip hazard. Again awesome job and a great stove especially if in an open fire ban area.

Its cool for sure ! I have been making different rocket stove for more than a decade and this version i feel ticks enough boxes. I would like to see a similar design but only using the ammo can to store the rocket stove that way it could be modular and bigger with higher chimney stack if needed. Nice work there bro.

You have got to get a Steel Demon skillsaw blade. Definitely my new favorite fab tool. Cuts thru steel like a regular carbide blade cuts aluminum. $30 at Depot for a 7-1/4" blade. But mask up...this thing flings some shrapnel! The heat goes into the chips and the steel is NOT HOT after you cut it.

I am making a mini wood burner stove for heat in my little shed. I'm going to make it removable so I can take it out and use it as a stove or grill during warm months. Figuring out the different stacks was the biggest hurdle, but it should fill the bill quite handily.
@ZuroX92
@ZuroX92 3 жыл бұрын
instead of welding it to the sides that will transfer some heat. you could have used refractory cement and just weld some of that stampedmetal to the side of the burner and to the sides of the can. That way the cement have something to grip and hold on to but you dont have the burner and can directly connected and you wouldent have that heat transfer. I will be heavier tho but thats a trade off. Btw thank you from the rest of the world that dont use imperial. Thats really nice of you to give us the metric measurements, dont see many people on youtube do that.

Rocket stoves are great, but have you heard of TLUD stoves? They are a type of wood gasifier, a "forgotten" technology that heats up wood so it releases gas, which is then burnt. The result is heat from the burning "wood gas" and biochar, which can be used to start it next time, or for any other purpose involving charcoal. This ammo can build looks awesome though! I have even heard of people burying the biochar to A: prevent CO2 from entering the atmosphere (it would if the wood was normally set to rot) and B to fertilize the soil.
