A really cool video, it’s very informative. Your information about the types of ammunition and the storage of the ammunition, seems to be accurate to me. Thanks for the great video! Be Safe!

I tell my family and freinds to save and sit on there ammo and buy as much as they can. Biden sold us out to the world and opend the borders to all terroist and drug cartel. There will be a full blown war here at home before it gets any better

FMJ is all I stock pile. Hollow points are cool, but you are paying WAY more money for small advantages. FMJ will do the job just fine in a pinch and they are cheaper. Quantity not quality these days.

I lament the fact that many makers DO NOT load FLAT NOSE BULLETS IN FMJ for 9mm Luger except !$& grain Federal or CCI.

I buy some of FMJ & JHP because I buy what I can find and I have the extra cash to buy at the time.I like having only one caliber so I don’t get them mixed up and have to sort them.

In this video, I see the weapon that re-wakened my appreciation for semi-auto handguns, that made me admire thoughtful engineering, that showed me what functional forms and competitive marketing could be: Yes, I'm talking about the Taurus.

I like your philosophy on how much of the ball ammo vs hollow points. Both are effective in combat, but FMJ (pistol ammo) has a slightly better punch on targets that might have multiple layers of clothing.

For shtf I reload a hardcast bullet ,I can get 500 for $70 or so for my 44&357 mags .I don't reload for 9mm but am thinking about it now because the prices going up. I can still get 100 rounds for less than $25 so I'm still just buying a couple boxs now & then for my 9's. Good hollow point are great for self defense but any bullet will do shtf.

Just thought I'd mention it here: Cheaper than Dirt! still hasn't learned their lesson about jacking ammo prices. I say boycott their asses still. Bastards are demanding 34-44 dollars for 50 rounds of standard ball ammo when it can be found for 1/3 the price if you dig around.

I’m not sure I would recommend vmax for self defense, you need a bit more penetration, I like 62 Speer gold dot, or 62 Gn Lehigh defense controlled chaos, Make as many as you can afford but the chance of you ever having to even empty one mag in self defense and very slim! if you need more the 600 rounds, you ain’t living right!
@ammowizard9673

I'm in it for the long term be self-sufficient and have ammo as much as possible for as long as possible stop matter what happens how are you supposed to survive this right now going on with only six hundred rounds you could have trainedand keep up your skills with your main battle rifle in your handgunI understand the concept that you don't need to shoot that many rounds in a self-defense scenarioa lot of people don't understand that they think they're going to just go out here and shoot and shoot and shoot so they need all the ammo they can get
@Kimaracustoms
@Kimaracustoms 4 жыл бұрын
ammo wizard i definitely did not say only be sitting on 600 rounds, just suggesting that you might want to give a little thought into having the right Ammo for the right task, vmax are 100% small to medium game Bullets, they have very little penetration, and are not barrier blind at all, so one or to Speer gold dot or even better controlled choas would do the job that it would take mutable varmint round to do, then you could have your hunting rounds to feed your self! And by all means, if you can afford more then 600 good quality self defense rounds, stack em high! or you could go with NATO ammunition, or whatever. But if you are spending time and money, Why not have the best tool for the job. If you have waited until now to train and dial in you skills, it never to late but your playing catch-up in the forth quarter, that time has passed. And unless you have been reloading for a while you are just pissing away valuable time and money, because now is not the time to be building your stock pile, all Ammo and reloading supplies are hard to find and about twice as expensive. But only you knows what’s best for your situation

Also I'm not sure I'd recommend hollow points for hunting. For self-defense yes but not for game. It's just my opinion. Game animal tissue isn't like human tissue. You want penetration. I take a FMJ 230 gr. bullet when I go into the woods. I've heard of folks shooting deer with JHP rounds and the bullet doesn't even penetrate the hide.
@allanbrown747

FMJ are illeagle to hunt with in most states,hollow points like you said are not great for hunting because too much damage to meat and lack of penatration again like you said.

@@allanbrown747 Good Info. I didn't know that. However I was referring more to protection from large animals in the woods with what I carry. I was just using deer as an example since some of the more dangerous critters have even tougher hides (bears).

@@mcb2757 My brother ,many years ago shot a huge whitetail with a 7.62 x 39 out of an sks.Put 8 rounds in the animal and it never stopped tracked it for 3 hours for over 1 mile or so even got a dog to help track. The deer was finally shot and killed by another hunter 2 days later but was found to be hit by all 8 rounds my brother had fired but we figured out he had grabbed the wrong rounds for the gun which turned out to be fmj bullets and they just did'nt do enough damage to put it down quickly. For dangerous game where penatration is key I'm sure the fmj would do good .!

2000 rounds divided in half between FMJ and hollow points and then you stock enough components to reload 3 to 4 times then in perspective you have 6000 to 8000 rounds and if you have a family and you set up workstations for each process of reloading and you teach and train your family in reloading you can reload a lot in a hurry. I have a family of 5 and my 6 yr old knows the same as I do in reloading and is always reading load books he has gotting to be a smart cookie and with one person shooting and 4 reloading we load a 100 rounds a minute in assembly line form. Stockpiling ammo during these times only run the cost up the ammo companies and gun stores learn how much all these stockpiling idiots are willing to pay and ends up driving up prices after it all settles down. The Obama 22 shortage before shortage just over 5 bucks a brick during the shortage any place from 50 bucks to 100 bucks or more if you could even find them after shortage 25-30 bucks a brick. Once things get back to normal and shelves start to be plentiful I'm gonna hate to see ammo prices especially here in NY but I'm Also not going to worry cause I'm sitting on over 300,000 rounds of many different calibers collected over 40 years and enough components to reload each caliber 3-4 times also collected over the years these shortage and the idiots panik buying does not effect me it just keeps me out of the ammo sections at stores because you all just keep driving prices higher and higher and then want to complain about it when you're pay 50 bucks a box for 25 rounds. Collect over years and quit the panic buying and creating the shortages. I will continue to shoot and continue processing lead and brass I have buried in buckets into nice shiny ammo.
