I've been thinking about getting a .380 just to have a lighter pistol for running/exercise. I had a PPK/S back in the day and loved it but unfortunately had to sell it due to financial issues at the time. Still lament that!

Consider a good belly band that you can throw an IWB Kydex on for whatever caliber you go with. These inner belts hold the holster and gun in snug to your waist or hip, and distribute the weight all around you instead of hanging all that weight in just one spot on your pants/shorts. No outer belt necessary.

Yes! I LOVED my PPK/S!! I know exactly what you mean. It was my summer carry gun for years while a BHP in 9mm was my winter carry most of the time. I hate to say this.... but the newer polymer pistols today would make a better choice over the heavier Walther. Take a look at the S&W EZ .380 , GLOCK has a few really comfortable.380 's also. I think you'd be wise to get something to carry with you. Good luck, stay safe.

I actually like 0.380 ACP a lot...the only issue I hear is that with shorter barrel length concealed carry weapons, you may not get sufficient muzzle velocity for hollow point bullet expansion....and you may be better off with ball ammunition. Maybe, later you might want to delve into 9x18 Makarov....I like that one a lot as well. Great video.... thank you !

I like the 9X18 Mak & have thought about buying one. I've seen the surplus pistols for sale but they NEVER have the ammo in stock. Those Maks go for $399.99 where I'm from.

@@redeye8526 there are other non Russian ammo manufacturers for this caliber now. But, you're right.... ultimately obtaining Russian weapons and ammunition is pretty much going to be impossible from now on.

@@perplexingperceptions8888 The only way I would buy a Makarov pistol is if it was rechambered in .380. There are guns out that have been rechambered for the American market but many are still chambered in 9x18.

You really do have a good, well-rounded, informative channel. I commented on one of your other .380acp episodes and subscribed. Something that many people did/still may do in colder climates was to have a summer-carry gun which was usually a .380 or 32acp, of a 38spl. A winter-carry handgun of 9mm, .45acp or .357mag was used when heavier cold weather clothing was worn. These calibers allowed for better penetration through multiple, heavy layers of clothing. This was common practice for me growing up in the New England states. Now that I reside in Arizona where heavy clothing is not worn, smaller calibers/lighter handguns are easier to conceal while still offering adequate penetration.

100% agree. Wisconsin I do the dame thing. Have a pocket carry 380 for shorts and t shirt, and in winter when I have pants boots Baltimore and big jacket on I can carry a full size of almost anything because I can conceal it

I'm an assumed Glock .40"S&W fan boy. Having fessed up that shameful fact, I do like the .380"ACP not only for pocket carry but also, in a G42 for instance, to help ease new shooters into the dark side of the force. The G42 is an extremely easy gun to shoot well, even new shooters. My other use for it is as my Tux pocket carry pistol, but not so much as a backup gun to my G23 EDC, where my S&W642 Pro Series really shines, adding functionality that no semiautomatic pistol possess (like shooting 5 time in a row without jamming from inside a coat pocket, for instance). But as usual I digress... :>0

I think the 380 shines in a bit larger pistol than the small pocket pistols … Beretta has made a few different DA/SA .. and now Ruger has the Security 380 .. basically the size of a Glock 26 but comes in a 18oz .. 10+1 or extended mags of 15+1 … I find mine accurate and follow up shots are fast and accurate because of the extremely light recoil It is also very easy to manipulate the slide… I like to practice double taps and even Mozambique drills

Great video As I am a big 40 caliber fan I do believe that the 380 has its place , and that is in concealment carry . Any caliber handgun is better than no handgun . I do have a small 380 That I treat like a 7 shot derringer

Excellent content. Would definitely like to see you do a .380 to 7,65mm comparison. 7,65mm is definitely an excellent cartridge that is readily dismissed by many. Walther, Beretta and many others have made good quality pistols chambered for the caliber. It really shines with 73 grain ball ammo. New subscriber. Keep up with the excellent content!

This is a concealed carry round. Ruger LCP (e.g., MAX), Sig 238, Glock 42, S&W EZ. I want a S&W EZ as a teaching tool (dang California roster...)

You are right. Those same guys told me that the extra 2mm of the 9X19 combined with "The New Bullet Technology" makes it kill like the Wrath Of God. Amazing what that extra 2mm can do-----ROFLMAO

380 acp is an effective round at close range, which is what the cartridge was designed for. I wouldn't mind carrying a 380 for pocket carry simply as a get off me gun.

380 costs a fair bit more than 9mm. Packs less punch. Roughly the same diameter means equal capacity. No brainer unless you want the tiniest gun.

"Browning 1911 380 Black Label" its not full size but close. A true full size wouldnt work I guess the slide would be to heavy and the round to short for the action.

@@Gieszkanne I wonder if the problem could be overcome with a sequence of recoil springs, at least two, one of which would help the slide not to bounce as it moves forward, the other for smooth operation. Kind of like the dual spring arrangement in the Glock 43X.
