Howdy my partners! Here's my latest gear review! The Ammoon AM-228 Compact Stereo Mixer! amzn.to/2tPNIja Though it lacks a headphone output, it's pretty small, can run on batteries or AC, and does the job pretty well! It has selectable 1/4" mic/line inputs and 2 1/4" outputs. In this video I run 3 external midi synths into it and record the result on a vintage cassette recorder!

Got that same one , used it for a keyboard sub mixer for years no complaints honestly . Noise floor is good enough it’s never stood out . In contrast the MS20 is noisier .

Mookey 8 Stereo Channel Pre-mixer is a way better bang for your buck. Its 8 inputs are 1/4' Stereo EACH. Which means you can plug in 8 not 4 stereo devices. It has 2 1/4' Stereo outputs which allows you to unify the upper and lower rows of inputs, this way they all share both stereo outputs (and you can plug your headphones into the secondary output and use it for monitoring). Or you can have the upper row go to one output and lower, - to another output. Around $60 CAD ($42 USD) gives you a mini 8 stereo channel mixer with an option for using monitoring headphones, and it has twice the inputs, twice the output and it's half the size of the Ammoon one to boot. I've been using it as an fx-sends pre-mixer for both home studio recording and gigs for years without any issues (that 99% Isopropyl alcohol cleaning couldn't solve).

Not only is there another version with reverb on it, it also has the greatest ever printing error since the 'Stylish Fuzz' with its 'Bustain' knob. 8 channel mixer WITCH reverberation. I bought just because of the typo. Now I can use the reverb on my guitar with a pedal that has a bustain knob while i sing 'Bustain makes me feel guu-u-uud'.

Hi. I just got exactly the same mixer in mail. I connected a 3,5mm mic to channel 1 and had to use a adapter (female 3,5 to 2x6,3 males) and for output the same adapter to 3,5mm cabel to handheld recorder. But I get no noise att all only static . When I play back I hear that static is going up and down in volume as I change the nobs but no recording from mic. Mic has no power button and is powered from mixer (or should be). Any ideas?

Yes, this mixer has no phantom power feature, which is what you would need to power your mics, which are most likely condenser mics. You can only use dynamic microphones with this mixer. Try testing it by plugging in a different type of audio source, such as a synth or something.

Good review.. Does this take TRS cable? I'm trying to use this on my pedalboard having Line 6's HX stomp. Use this before I send to mixer so I can manage the volume on my end..

Bass is fine, just keep your volume down.

for a Podcast, I don't really think this mixer would be the best choice. Something in the same price range that would probably be better amzn.to/3elhEtn because it has usb and bluetooth.

QUESTION! I've just got one of these for, yeah, utilitarian stuff. I was wondering if the inputs are balanced or unbalanced. I'm guessing unbalanced but you kind of get two clicks when you insert a jack.

I might be crazy, but i thought this mixer was Stereo. Yet i only get Left ear our put when using stereo mode and 1 "OUT" channel (was attempting to combine audio source from pc, + audio source from Nintendo switch ;D)

It's is stereo, as in two channels. If you have it set to stereo, A is left and B is right.

Not quite that old, they were still using cassette in the 90s. It's from 2005 though. Records on 'smart media' cards. I've recorded tons of stuff on it. Has a really interesting sound, especially on low quality setting.

well it does have very basic preamps in it, enough for dynamic microphones with only 1/4" cables. If you want something that is more of a dedicated preamp, I'd look at something else.

Yes you could, but it would be done with analog connections to a physical audio input, since this mixer is not digital.
