True, but having stayed at a couple of pretty nasty places, I've never had the experience he describes, it's usually when you're NOT using the shower that the drains and stuff tend to stink up a storm, at least in my admittedly (thankfully) relatively limited experience. Like you can tell the difference between a human shit and a normal stinky drain, they smell bad but they don't smell like a taco bell public bathroom so if it really stank like actual shit it either must have been really fucking bad, or it must have been an actual log down there, and just the idea that that might have been the case makes my skin crawl.

Nah honestly, a lot of hotels like that keep in business specifically because they're the first off the highway, people are exhausted and don't know better. They don't tend to have regular cleaning staff and have few if any employees. Even if everyone who comes by has a miserable time, there are still desperate throughbys who saw the word 'hotel' and figured it'd be fine.

I rated a hotel with bed bugs 6/10 in london, because it was very cheap, close to metro and the receptionist changed our room quickly after I found a bed bug in our bed. The second room was better. I did add a picture of the bed bug in question to the review though.

Back when they were building the Venetian Hotel/Casino, the construction company used one of the still standing motels on the construction site as their offices. Well, at least the back quarter. They let the former owners of the motel still run the rest of the motel until it was due for demolition. Of course, they did nothing to maintain the motel. If a room became non-rentable, they just closed it off. We still stayed there a couple of times even though sharing it with some "6 legged pets".

A family member of mine once stayed at a hotel, as soon as they got into the room the first thing they noticed was a plastic bag over the smoke detector. As soon as they saw this, they did a full sweep of the room and quickly discovered right beneath the mattress was a shit load of cigarettes. Since then when ever my family stays anywhere we always check the mattresses.

When I was in Spain I went to the hotel of LA IN Spain Hotel of LA WITHIN THE BORDERS OF SPAIN It was half restaurant half hotel And it really lived up to the saying “you can be a master of one trade or be so bad at two trades that it’s borderline illegal” There so so many flys at the hotel We didn’t get what we wanted at the hotel The walls were both rusty and slimes There was two beds and we have 5 people The shower was just a bucket and a faucet that is strong enough to be considered artillery
