Jay was interviewed once about his long guitar solos and how intricate they tend to be and how focused he looks. He replied with, "I don't know about that. There's been lots of times I'm performing a solo and wondering what I'm going to have for dinner that night". Needles to say, he's my favorite guitarist.

I get that he's a great songwriter who can write poignant, heartfelt lyrics. But the thing I like most about him are his guitar solos. They take you on a journey, man.
@soyborne.bornmadeandundone13423 жыл бұрын
He started out on hard to play rough instruments. And his fingers are tough as nails. He clearly digs in deep and plays with heavy emotion. This mixed with his super guitar talent and I don't like to bring this up, but his struggles with depression and pain... You add it all up and you get one hell of a musician that no one can come close to replicating. He's him and the only one of him that's for sure! Rare when you have a dude like this. Great singing voice, great playing, great writing. Consistant af and been doing it that way for like 40 years. That's not nothing! That's legend! Most musicians are one hit wonders or never was's.

Agreed. Rare does a musician last this long. Usually their first album is their best and then they have trouble or sell out or start suckin lols. Not J though. Consistent af when it comes to blowing us away. It's been like 40 friggin years and he still kills it every time. And what's hilarious is he literally looks like the last person on earth that you would think is a guitar god but he is!

0:36 does this remind anyone of the pedal video where he says "and this is my clean sound"?
@khaaleliilighntingcoronado90095 жыл бұрын
Haha I think you're talking about his rig rundown. He always keeps an overdrive on his "clean" sound so it doesn't sound plain. And hes right I've been using an overdrive to boost my clean sound and I can hear it better when the drums are going and it has more tone that gives your clean sound a punch but "clean"
@TheSickNeeds5 жыл бұрын
yup thats the one...he probably has a few rig rundowns though. If I ever got to hang out with him all of my questions would be about pedals seeing as I build my own from scratch.
