Elijah Wood has the most eclectic and musically interesting picks of any other episode I've seen, the man is obviously musically inclined , at the very least in the sense that he understands that good music transcends specific styles and genres. 1:35 - I'd get that just for the cover alone, but it seems it's not available on iTunes, let alone in my area's only remaining record shop.

I saw him talking about the Smashing Pumpkins on an episode of The Osbourne's (he went to a concert with Kelly and Jack, I think) and I thought 'Man, he sounds like he's way into music.' Theeen I saw him in one of the Lord of the Rings extras with his GIANT CD collection, flipping through the booklet while talking about listening to music during the Fellowship's hair and makeup. First Step was actually the debut by Faces not Small Faces. The US versions confusingly had Small Faces on the cover when Steve Marriott had already left for Humble Pie and been replaced by Stewart. Found that quite interesting

I really agree with what he said about how listening to digital music is almost schizophrenic in a way and that we don't really pay attention. I've only collected records for the last year and a half or so but it really changes how I listen to music. If somebody asked me about a band that I've only listened to online, the best answer I could give them is that I like them or I don't. When I put a record on, that's when I am really listening and it is committed to memory. Oftentimes, digital music just falls to the background for me with the rare exception when I repeat a song for like 5 hours (happens more often than I'd like to admit!). This is a really old video but I felt like commenting anyways:p

I'm a major in electronics so I know how DACs work. The things is that a stylus is even more limited you can't increase the bit rate (44Khz sampling is 22KHz you can't hear that) a stylus can reach 50KHz but it's amplitude output is far from guaranteed unlike digital. Add that to the fact that there are other frequencies in the mix and you cancel out movement. Groove wear on high frequencies is a problem with vinyl and you can't create a 100% copy of vinyl. The science is against you :D
