UPDATE: We like to pin comments of things we should have clarified or included. A great comment brought up this point: while we mention that the leaves are what produce glucose (a sugar) and ultimately it is the phloem that transports sugars, the plant tends to transport in the form of sucrose in the phloem, and sucrose is a sugar made of glucose & fructose combined. Plants can also carry additional sugars too. This is our updated video from our old “Plant Structure and Adaptations” Video. So what is different with this updated video? Petunia has improved her illustrating, Pinky has improved her audio, and the content still covers the old material but also has more about types of plants! Find resources that go with this video on our handouts page www.amoebasisters.com/handouts and if you still prefer the old video from 8 years ago (or are feeling nostalgic), it will remain up kzbin.info/www/bejne/enjTgXuogatga68

As an online learning student, these videos help me so much to better grasp the concepts that I'm learning. Whenever I'm having trouble understanding something I watch your videos. Not only are they so helpful but theyre also fun to watch and aren't boring like lots of other videos out there. Thank you so much!

Honestly I don't like Biology, but you make it so easy to understand it actually makes biology understandable and in a lesson or a quiz can always say, "Oh I saw that in the video". I can always get my questions right because of your videos. Thank you so much.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:34 🌱 *Plants exhibit diverse adaptations based on their environments, with over 300,000 estimated species showcasing a wide range of characteristics.* 01:01 🌿 *Vascular plants have a system of tubes (xylem and phloem) for water and sugar transport, while nonvascular plants (bryophytes) lack these vessels, limiting their size.* 03:14 🌲 *Vascular plants can be categorized into seedless vascular plants (lycophytes and monilophytes), gymnosperms (naked seed plants like conifers), and angiosperms (flowering plants, the largest plant group).* 04:31 🍃 *Angiosperms, the flowering plants, constitute around 90% of all plants and can be further classified as monocots or eudicots.* 05:00 💧 *Plants have specific structures and adaptations for obtaining water, such as guard cells controlling stomata to balance gas exchange and water conservation.* 05:30 ☁️ *Stomata, essential for gas exchange, can't remain open all the time to prevent water loss; guard cells regulate their opening and closing.* 06:24 ☀️ *Chloroplasts and pigments like chlorophyll are crucial for capturing light energy during photosynthesis.* 06:50 🍃 *Leaf structure varies based on environmental factors, with adaptations like waxy cuticles in arid regions and broad leaves in water-rich areas.* 07:41 🦟 *Plants in nitrogen-poor soil may resort to carnivory, like the Venus fly trap, to obtain nitrogen by digesting insects.* 08:08 💦 *Mangrove trees in waterlogged soil develop specialized roots to cope with low oxygen and high salt concentrations, showcasing unique adaptations.* 09:04 🌍 *Understanding plants is crucial as they are essential producers in food webs, contribute to medication development, and produce oxygen through photosynthesis.* Made with HARPA AI

I watch your videos frequently. The faces always make me laugh and greatly aid in remembering concepts. Although the addition of (pop) questions within the video could increase the length of your videos, I believe asking about previously introduced concepts a few times would aid overall comprehension. I imagine how fun the slides could be illustrated before the answer is revealed. Everyone has their own style of teaching though. I appreciate the invaluable resource regardless :)

Phloem carry sucrose not glucose
@AmoebaSisters Жыл бұрын
That's a really good detail that we should have included - while we mention that the leaves are what produce glucose and ultimately it is transported in the phloem, the plant tends to convert to sucrose for transport which would be made up of glucose + fructose combined. We'll make a note on this, thank you!!
