crazy how he's still doing it to a sizeable audience, good to see there is still people out there supporting musicianship and artistry

Looks like Beck upped his showmanship by an order of magnitude. Looks like quite a show. Is this like Beck 4.0? Not a moment too soon.

My friend got me in to Beck in like 94. Next thing I know I’m playing singing and having the time of my life. His first few albums are my favorite

Thanks A Mohican! One month after this gig (October 4th 2023), Beck was playing with Jason Faulkner and Roger Manning Jr and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Another 19 song set. The only songs he played at both wildly different shows were Lost Cause and The Golden Age. Got to love that 👏🏼

I've been watching the clips from that concert with songs from Mutations, Sea Change, and Morning Phase and would've loved to have been there! Epic. I saw him perform Wave with the London Contemporary Orchestra and it was majestic... kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXnLfKl_n8Z8ZtEsi=PstjzLQQhkUOYbgW

How was the energy in the room? We caught the tour in Chicago, outdoors, and it was phenomenal. People were melting down by how good he was. The band was tight, and the visuals were stunning. Super fun!

Same in Boston - I'm sure it was a feat getting everyone super excited for a show on the first work night after Labor Day Weekend but man, did they ever! Best party in town, hands down (or hands up) 😄🎶🎉

Is the animator for the 'mixed buziness' backdrop the same one that does the videos for black midi?

Honest, not a flame war question. Devils Haircut, sounds like Beck is singing when he clearly is not, yet during Mixed Bizness, he's clearly singing all of it. I was at the show, noticed it live, and now am curious, b/c the video makes it a bit more obvious. Does he employ any back sound that is not live? Doesn't matter, had an EPIC night.

They're all singing and playing (of course), with some backing tracks/electronics mixed in. I'm guessing that evolution (and maybe the introduction of cordless mics?) largely stems from the ingenuity of Ian Longwell on percussion - a much sought-after producer and recent addition to the band. "I help come up with ways they can really perform as much of the material as possible but still maintain that sonic brand from the records. If we run tracks, interact with them in a creative way," he says ☺️ www.masterdynamic.com/blogs/the-dynamic/a-conversation-with-ian-longwell

Definitely the best iteration of all the bands he ever used. The B53s never did much for me. Chris Coleman is a force to be reckoned with but Joey just brings the right vibe. Personally when I see a band I don’t like the songs to wander too far from the recording. Just my preference. Therefore I don’t mind all the playback he uses.
