the paradox with figueroa is that because the guitars are programmed ‘robot computers’… it’s even more nerd/electronic/sci-fi than what i typically release under my own name 🤷♂
@katchmarik739310 ай бұрын
I think a lot of people don't realize this about Figueroa - that those are not actual guitars being played. That aspect alone makes this a transcendental accomplishment and experience. The atmosphere of this short film is intense and alternatingly harrowing and euphoric. Thank you for this.

Oh my word. This is spectacular. I got goosebumps at the point the vocal came in, and in other parts literally found myself saying 'woooow' out loud despite sitting here watching this on my own right now. When 'The World As We Know It' was released, this track quickly became one of my all-time favourites of Amon's, of any of his aliases. Put Me Under and also Weather Girl I find to be just completely celestial. Both are so haunting, and beautiful, and hauntingly beautiful and beautifully haunting, and so, so poignant and relevant. The lyrics manage to say and evoke so much with so little (or seemingly so little, anyway -- I feel the production was probably anything but minimaI from how insanely good the vocals sound... so I guess perhaps that could be the trick). But yeah, both are just as good as it gets for me really, musically. I'm really glad that the video appears to have been another labour of love -- I find it to be a wholly worthy and fitting accompaniment to the most excellent, excellent music. Fools may well run all these lives, and yes we probably are collectively lost, but at least some of us have music like this that we can listen to along the way!

Figueroa is my favorite 'persona' of Amon Tobin. The musicality, even though it's all electronic programming, still has that natural acoustic sound. It actually sounds very un-electronic and quite analog with a degree of processing! I don't know how you do it. It must take so much time to get that beautiful acoustic stringed guitar sound the way it feels. And those visuals you've been creating are just... amazingly breathtaking along with your conception of them. Each video/film is different yet there is a definite constant theme throughout all of the SHY1 directed pieces of late. Groove Art from An Other Land.💡🎶🎛🥁🔥🤙🏽🤖🏜💥🎙🌌🌛🐈⬛❗️

Maybe it’s just me…but seeing Potsdamer Platz, a Square in Berlin in this video and Holocaust world Remembrance Day just a few days past, those dead people’s arms displayed, the dude spiraling/dissolving …making me tense. History just seems fresh enough to be repeated in some way. But again, maybe it’s just me. Great video. Love almost everything you do, Amon Tobin💛

I'm a music producer, but my side gig is photography/graphic design, and I'm completely enamored with this thumbnail. Amon Tobin not only creates unimaginable music, but his videos and artwork have been absolutely brilliant. I can't gush about them enough. Pure art. I'd like to know who to contact to get videos with a similar aesthetic, but different vibe for a project I'm working on. These efforts have been unmatched in music video creation, from what I've seen. Brilliant, brilliant work.

See description: "these shorts are a learning exercise for my visual alias "Shy1" but along the way a place to showcase what I really do which has nothing to do with visuals. it's surprising how much crossover there is in both creative processes shouts out to Big Medium Small and their excellent Astronova character rig. Also Steven Bongers photogrammetry lava rocks amongst the many assets and creative tools that went into this."

Yeah. Wow. I'm increasingly impressed by the exceptional quality and coherence of your art across mediums. The precision and intent of your visual composition is overtly cinematic, very Deakins-esq. It's as fully-realized as your sonics, and that is incredibly rare. In case it's useful, the audio sounds a bit tinny. I've also noticed Devine's tracks getting overtly brighter over time. Thinking it might be a product of long-term listening fatigue: aging ears and still mastering our own work. :p
