That album and live performance where so amazing, I was so mind blown when I've seen it in Brussels the first time. Glad to see this ... brings back great memories.

The visual aspect lags behind. I mean to say aurally all considerations seem to be met and filled out and the contradiction of unfulfilled visual attention is a distraction. My critique is that the visual would be better served to do less so that it can be done well. The artist appears to have the chops but wants to do everything all at once, pull back a bit; like where the figures coming up out of the clouds connect becomes an afterthought, color choice is a missed opportunity, lining up some relation specifically with the audio is another missed opportunity. Side by side the audio and visual do not meet, visual rhythms are more staid, lees changing in texture, light, dynamism generally my point should be clear by now. I wouldn't drop the video artist I think the first few projects should be a bit out of sync, that's how greatness is made. Keep pushing!

What you're pointing to aren't technical mistakes. Looks more obviously like artistic preference. Confidently saying that no color or not timing tightly are missed opportunities is a presumptuous and lofty position to take. Admittedly no more lofty than saying "aurally all considerations seem to be met and filled" 🤣

@@Infradoodle He asked me to comment and so I'm trying to be helpful. Everybody just saying "Yes" isn't helpful is it? We wouldn't be here if we didn't love the work. Critical analysis is your friend.

That's the kind of sound that makes wonder "how does he do that", commercial VSTs or exotic Eurorack modules ? Creative coding or sticks and stones DIY? Not your typical factory presets and workstation demo song anyway. I don't want "tips and tricks" though, I want to understand the creative process.
@Infradoodle7 күн бұрын
Def not normal VST. You can't do this with normal VST. I heard he only uses analogue hardware. Controlled by software maybe?
