met him in 2007, spoke to him for about fifteen minutes, it was brilliant... he is such a genuine person. We talked about at the time how Ninja Tune wanted to drop him... his response was "don't even worry about that, just enjoy the music" then I told him how I loved Ruthless from the Splinter Cell album, and this was before the show, so he goes "you're in for a surprise" it was just a genuine conversation. I was really in awe, he is up there for great electronic musicians.

Wait.. Why would Ninja Tune want to drop him? He's their saviour? So ungrateful

He really is just a geniune, thoughtful person. His reclusive nature just adds to the mystique. Top of my list of "People To Meet" by far, though I'm sure he'd rather be left well enough alone and I respect that.

This is weird; Tobin on what appears to be morning television. What is happening?
@RohannvanRensburg5 жыл бұрын
Artists always look so strange on morning TV. This interview was better than most; most have this sort of detached, alienating feeling like the morning show people don't have the first clue about what constitutes creativity or artistry and don't treat the artist like a unique individual. They also tend to showcase a bizarre lack of familiarity with the artist. The bright lighting and studio setting doesn't help.
@Yarrrm8e12 жыл бұрын
He's been in soundtracks (The Italian Job), he's done commercials (BMW) and he did an entire video game soundtrack (Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.) I agree, I wouldn't want him to be ruined by it, but it is great to hear your favorite artist in random places and look at other people as they discover Amon's goodness.

You can tell he's ridiculously brilliant by the way he speaks even.

Just caught his show in Atlanta last night. You can tell he's a humble guy and appreciative of the audience turnout. The video mapping stage show was pretty cool.

I'm listening to him talk for the very first time and that caught my attention too. He was born in Brazil, but spent over half his life in England. Interesting background.

For a guy who was born from Brazil, Tobin sounds British for some reason. Anyway this guy is definitely one of the BEST electronic artists EVER!!!! Have every album from him, except The Foley Room and ISAM which I gotta pick up.

i agree that his music would be amazing in films, but i hope it never happens (not with this album, anyway) because it would ruin the beauty that the songs hold on their own. i prefer to let my imagination run wild with visuals and ideas when i hear his music.
