If you get here and it says 0 you have to run to the other one." I could be wrong about that because I've never played or tested the map but I'm pretty sure about that.

@@WhereIsMySock03 It counts how many are left overall. The purpose is so you can use it to determine if there's been an oxygen death or not; if you get there and the mask count is at 0, and someone claims that someone died to oxygen, you know they're lying. Similarly, if you take a mask and it says there's 3 left, and you don't see anyone show up, you can deduce some of the bodies in the next meeting were oxygen deaths and alibis can't be used to clear people. The important thing to remember is that the # is based on how many people started the game, not how many are currently alive, so you have to remember to ignore the masks for already dead people.

You guys need to learn what some words mean before using them all willy nilly. Gaslighting isn't lying to people. Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that's seen in abusive relationships. It's the act of manipulating a person by forcing them to question their thoughts, memories, and the events occurring around them. A victim of gaslighting can be pushed so far that they question their own sanity.

Part of gaslighting is _lying about events and memories_ with the intent to convince someone, knowing that your version is wrong. So yes gaslighting does happen in games of deception like this, it's just understood by everyone playing that it's a necessary part

In the same way that you can punch someone as part of a game or sport versus physically assaulting a partner, you can gaslight someone in a less oppressive context. You're not wrong that perhaps the Among Us community is a little too glib with the term, given the relative lack of good ways to describe skillful deception, but they're not technically wrong to use it. It's not the best situation, but it's also kind of inevitable: there are HUNDREDS of previously legitimate medical or technical terms that have been co-opted to broader pejorative or descriptive uses. That's what language is for, to convey information as concisely as possible. And humans, at least English speaking ones, typically don't make up another word to describe a situation unless there's a significant difference; I don't consider the context of a video game enough to warrant that here. As for glibness, well, its human nature to joke, especially about dark situations. Like, this game is about slowly slaughtering your friends in an environment they can't get out of. Their only escape, in vanilla anyway, is to throw the imposters to their death or finish their tasks (and if we're going deepest lore it's never stated everyone survives this way, just wins, but I concede that's maybe going too far out lol.) There have been probably at least a hundred other dark jokes involving murder, kidnapping, weeb club, conspiracies, sexual fetishes, domination...its a little weird to draw the line at a term that isn't even being used as a joke. Also theres the fact we usually have no idea what anyone, anywhere has gone through unless they tell us so, like, you could be chastising someone whose using humor to cope, yknow? Or that's going down a weird path where not even people who have been severely gaslit can use the word in any context but scientific/academic. OR it's going down a path that requires people to disclose their trauma to use a term.
