Really interesting, I love a lot the sound design on Foley Room, this album is a real audio experience. And I was super enthusiast when I heard Figueroa, good psychedelic music with still this magic dreamy sound textures and way of mixing. You keep surprising us Mr Tobin 👍😎🧙♂️

So very wabi sabi. Also whatever cans those are it looks like they're discontinued - Audeze doesn't seem to have any with wooden closed backs anymore.

From what I could gather from the Chaos Theory soundtrack "biography", they are recorded and sampled over through various means.

Out of genuine curiosity... why are vintage 20th century analogue mics, pre's, eq's etc. - So sought after? I know its claimed they are valued for the unique harmonics and warmth they provide, but in this digital age where we can model almost any circuitry using software for much cheaper.. why spend so much money on a vintage mic? Don't get me wrong, that neumann M49 looks incredible and id love to own one myself but asking really only out of curiosity. It seems like most listeners would likely not even be able to distinguish sound between a new $100 condenser from guitar center and a 1949 tube condenser worth thousands, maybe difficult even for a trained ear depending on the recording. So is all this vintage gear so appealing largely just for the enjoyment of owning a piece of history, or just a psychological thing? Could be somewhat of a placebo effect or do some of these vintage toys really do provide an unproduceable magic?

Yep. That’s what artists want... To be stuck in the stylistic limitations of an LP they made 25 years ago.
