It's a best-selling book that's on Barack Obama's favourites list. It chronicles a Russian aristocrat who spends thirty years imprisoned in a Moscow hotel. Translated into 20 languages, "A Gentleman in Moscow" will soon be available in French. Wall Street director of research-turned-successful author Amor Towles speaks to Eve Jackson about the intrigue of Russia, the football World Cup and having his novel turned into a mini-series by British director Tom Harper starring Kenneth Branagh.

I enjoyed this interview with Amor Towles, who seems rather effortlessly articulate even when repeating a lot of ideas shared in similar interviews. He is an impressive author. I like how they are giving ample time to explore the Russian context. I do feel that the pleasant interviewer appears too often to be looking down at her notes as if grasping for a cheat sheet. Time well spent here, of course, so thank you.
