This Amorphophallus species is found only in Borneo and grows there in the lowland rainforest at altitudes between 300 and 500 meters. It is a relatively large species, with the leaves reaching a height of 180 cm in the tropics. The petiole is heavily mottled and sometimes appears to be covered in lichen. The inflorescence has a green-purple spathe and a white-pink spadix. After pollination, it is followed by orange-yellow fruits with 1 seed in each.
The plant grows from an underground bulb with 1 leaf at a time. Each time a leaf is succeeded by a larger leaf, storing more and more energy in the bulb. When it is large enough, the plant will be able to flower. Usually this succeeds from a weight of about 1 kg. The plant can be kept well as a houseplant, but a higher temperature of 25-30grC is eventually needed for flowering. Provide a well-drained soil and keep it constantly slightly moist. When the plant goes dormant (which is not common with this species), it is good to keep the soil a little less moist. In addition, a light location without direct sunlight is suitable.
Sowing description:The already germinated seed can be sown directly in well-drained soil with organic material and e.g. perlite. For the first development a temperature of 25-30grC is
