Nothing like clean, wholesome family entertainment, as compared to the sewage that passes as "family programming" these days. I'm showing this to my three year old and he's laughing his little butt off!

The creators of Amos & Andy were against racism. They gave to the NAACP regurly and were friends with alot of blacks.

It was two white men on the radio named Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll performing in a radio play called The "Amos 'n Andy Show" for several decades. Late 30's to the 50's. After that a TV show came out with real black actors.

I agree, and it wasn't that long ago, it really wasn't. I'd like to add that yes, we do live it because while things have changed these stereoptypes have only reinvented themselves through the years.

You are wrong about the Amos 'n' Andy TV show. The two main actors were in fact black. On the ORIGINAL RADIO version of the show, Amos 'n' Andy were played by white actors Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll. Interestingly enough, even on the radio version there was never any real distinction between white characters and black ones. All the characters were given equal treatment in situations.

This was NOT made by "colorfolks." First of all, the voices were by the radio actors, Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll. They were WHITE. Further, the cartoons (2) were made by the Van Beuren Studio in New York, a white establishement. It was not until AMOS N' ANdy went to television in 1951 that the star characters were cast with REAL black actors. I hope this helps set the record, this being "Black History" Month.

Amos 'n' Andy creators Gosden and Correll were white actors familiar with minstrel traditions. So there goes your uncle Tom theory :)

At least they had jobs. Now if they could only work on having kids NOT born out of wedlock.

Mostly in their speech and over-exagerrated physical attributes. It's racist in the same way cartoons are racist when they show asians with long narrow eyes.

Cut the paternalistic crap, we've all got fathers and you aren't it. Your not helping your case by dictating what opinions other people should form. "I'm not offended therefore no one should be"
