Great video! Been following your amouage content for a little bit, so i figured I'd have some conversation! I'm known in some frag channels to make huge comments, and i think this one will be one too, so i'm sorry in advance, lol. I agree with your sentiments about the amouage brand still being rather enjoyable; I think they're introducing a lot of modern perfumers to the house to make their own challenging creations like quentin bisch, and they still have powerhouses in the library collection. But now there's also a mass appealing portion of their collection to grab wider audiences. i also wish they didn't discontinue stuff... i love bracken and myths :( As far as King Blue goes, I'm on the fence with it... there's a great oud assam opening and quality materials put into it, but i personally can't call the base similar or comparable to silver oud at all; where silver oud has a little bit of vanilla and amber quality to round out the balsamic nature and tame the big hit of cypriol and birch, king blue is inverse -- it has incense and leather nuances to roughen up an absolutely nuclear amount of amberwoods and sweetness. I found some ingredient percentages of King Blue and there's 2.7% Ethyl Maltol in it... that's like as much if not more than baccarat rouge 540, which is KNOWN for its overdose of ethyl maltol for that characteristic scorched cotton candy feel. This, coupled with the huge amberwoods, 75% more concentration than silver oud, and the fruity accord that honestly reminds me of initio paragon's candy-like plum, makes me think its an effort on making this style of oud a mass appealing 'final boss' version of the 'beast mode' department store niches we see today. Also helping my theory is the fact one perfumer is responsible for like half of the popular PDMs, lol. I certainly still find King Blue enjoyable, it's just in a curious position for me because it has such a challenging singular aspect, but the core of it is really modern and youthful feeling, which makes me probably gravitate towards silver oud more for my personal tastes. also for some reason the sweet fruity aspect of the opening makes the oud assam much more pungent to me as opposed to in silver oud, which is interesting... maybe its a rotting fruit sort of vibe that makes the fecal aspect have a really strong association to my nose. It backs off when it settles down though. On the flipside my indian girlfriend finds both pretty realistic and strong in the oud factor, haha

It’s a wonderful perfume. I didn’t love it in the first sniff. But after the second try. I bought it. I love how the notes changes

Nice review! I agree with you completely on the case of discontinuation. I struggled so much to find Sunshine Man, so that I purchased three at once, probably will last for a life time 😅😅

That was probably a good call if you love Sunshine man! Really wish they would stop all the discontinuing going on right now….

I bought 5 amouages last 2 weeks. This whole brand is amazing. I like the incorporation of Eastern arabic scents mixed with traditional western scents.. I find The results to be breathtaking. At this point I buy it to collect them. I believe King Blue is part of Library collection ? I used Jomashop to purchase 3 of them. Kind of mad at this point at Fragrancenet.( out of NY) 10 days ago I ordered Amouage Search and it still didn't arrive ! Great video though TY !

Thank you very much. Amouage really is superb!! King blue is part of the library series, the only ones I need now are rose incense and woods symphony to complete that wonderful collection✅

@@universalfragrance year rounder imo unlike silver oud which is a fall winter banger.

King Blue is such a great one. I use it on its own or as a foundation for layering. In my top 3 Amouages. I agree that the criticism of post Chong era releases is baseless and childish.

Ardbeg distillery went through the same un founded claims when their old distillery manager left. Then everything Ardbeg put out was magically “crap” to the keyboard warriors, even though everything coming out currently was distilled by the old distillery manager (who still lived on the small island of Islay and was involved with Ardbeg lol). People are really funny what they can convince themselves of when labels/packaging or management changes.

Which one would you keep if you had to choose between King Blue or Silver Oud? Thanks!

Another great analysis of the new Amouage, please tell me if you know the concentration of perfume oil in Royal Tobacco, and if you get better performance in cold weather with it? Because I still haven't had the opportunity to wear it in the winter, and now during the summer season, it doesn't really give me any great performance when I test it. Thank you.

I think Amouage has Royal Tobacco at 25% oil. It is an extremely strong and long-lasting fragrance

@@universalfragrance haha nice 💪. It's also known as Injera to Ethiopians, it's kind of spongy and bitter. In King Blue it smelled like that with some dustiness to me haha.

Also agree the post Chong fragrance criticism is childish. One reviewer I like and have followed even has a dumb nickname for the new director Renaud Salmon. Every time he says it jokingly I cringe. Really childish. Anyway. Great stuff!

Yes sir!!! I love Chong and that era, it is somewhat frustrating they discontinued some of his really unique stuff like Bracken, fate and sunshine. For me personally, some of my favorite Amouage fragrances are post Chong era such as Silver oud, Royal tobacco, King Blue and Jubilation 40. I think Renaud is also responsible for Amouage doing more extraits lately, which I certainly enjoy!

Although I had funny story about king blue at the first I did like but I bought it as collector and I have tried several time again at amouage shop but i still didn’t like at all smell like a shit 💩 however when I bought new jubilation I was given king blue as a sample and again I tried it and strangely I loved and bought second bottle 😂 now it is one of my favorite of Amouage 😅

I can see why that would be! Silver Oud took a little time for me to appreciate and now is one of my favorites. King blue has that same funky/ashy and earthy oud base which I now love, and the citrus/fruit forward top notes make King Blue really unique.
