Recently I had a cracking and popping problem with my Ampeg SVT Classic. I took my head to a certified Ampeg repair shop and they DID NOT fix the problem. I took it to the Tube Amp Repair Shop in Oceanside California and Eric did an excellent job in repairing my head. It sounds great, clean, clean sound Eric! Thank you

Hello I have a question about my ampeg SVT Rune 6550 head being defective. (Loss of power that I manage to regain by intervening at the rear on the rules of Bias) But which returns after a quarter of an hour. My question is it mandatory to change the 6 lamps or can I only change the one that seems to me to be at the end of its life? Thank you for your reply. Cordially. Dan

It is, next to certainly, essentially even if it's a very early '65. The tell or clue is the ratio of the worm gears on the tuning machine heads at the back of the headstock. Clay dots and VVT control plate narrow the year to between late '61 to '64, possibly early '65, still with a pre-CBS stamped L-serial number neck plate. I suspect it's most likely a '62 or '63, if not, a '64.

hope he is not paid by the hour. Loosening the two screws from the back cover took what felt like an eternity :)

Working smart and efficiently, no wasted moves, is the speed. He did all that in about 20 minutes where the hourly rate involves a 2 hour minimum. I suspect he has time to eat lunch.
