Sounds good, great demo with riffs and knob turning, that's the only way you can get an understanding of what the pedal is capable of. All of them can sound pretty close to the Ampeg VH-140C, that Ampeg VH150 is pretty sweet!

SNK is a close second but Ampeg needs to do some reissues. Late 90s early 2000s is making a comeback this decade. That magical 20 year cycle haha

Great vid - the VH150 with the 808 is a magic combination. Keep running the 808 into the vh150 - Maybe try a BD-2 (Blues driver) in front of it. Result will be similar to TS-9 + 808 but with more defined chug. That VH150 doesn't even need a compressor - tone is killer!

I really like the ME , it just sounds like someone threw a rug over the speaker cab. Someone needs to get in there and fix the input and signal stuff the rest could be awesome.

Recently picked up an SNK VHD and I am blown away by it. I don't have my VH140C anymore but from what I remember, the VHD sounds absolutely identical to it. I doubt I would be able to tell the difference between them in a blind test, definitely not in a mix or live setting. I even compared it my Crate VTX350H, which is another 140 clone, and the difference was very subtle. The Crate has more top end sizzle and the VHD had slightly more mod grind. This is a due to the Crate treble being tied to 7KHz instead of 3.5kHz like the Ampeg.

After figuring the best way to utilize the Misanthrope in a different video, which pedal would you choose? I'm torn. I had an 8100, and loved it until it broke down; my guitar player has a vh150 and it too sounds killer. Master Effects makes an 8100 variant called the Martyr, as I'm sure you already know. Choices, choices lol... Love your channel- just discovered it yesterday

Thanks bro appreciate it, ya Idk, the Martyr is pretty gnarly from what I’ve heard, but the Misanthrope in front sounds balls to the wall too! I’m going to put it up against the Marauder soon cuz a buddy loaned me that one. But idk all the stuffs killer just gotta take the time to find out how it sounds best, playin with eq, cab, pickups, tuning etc.🤘🏻

@@brokenlevelmusic have you thought of checking out the Boss Katana amps? There's so many tone sculpting possibilities with it! Especially using the Boss Tone Studio software or the Katana Librarian Android app. Plus they can be had for pretty cheap. I've got the MK1 head, a MK2 50 combo, and a MK2 Artist combo. Find you a head or a MK2 50 combo and see what kinda creations you can come up with 👍 Also it's cool cause you can share and trade patches with other users.

It can and sounds amazingly that way, but its also a preamp that can me ran bypassing the amps preamp.

Did not really dig the sound of the misanthrope. Kind of muffled sounding even with the highs cranked. I did like it better with your play thru at the end tho. You should check out PLX FX Spirytus. Thanks for the vid. Really digging the channel! Been loving the sound of these amps more and more. Starting to prefer them over some of my tube stuff.

I had the Misanthrope and sold it. Even into the front end of a clean channel it was too dark and too bassy and that couldn’t be dialed out.

Does Ampeg even exist anymore ? If so, why in the Hell would they stop production of this awesome Amp ? It's Epic sounding. I have an original Randall Rg100es and the way this sounds is just superior IMO. I have the ME Misanthrope and Sloverdrive pedals and The S&K just sounds more like the Ampeg to me. Great pedal. Are they still in production ? Like others have mentioned,The Misanthrope just sounds like not only like a blanket has been thrown over it but a thick moving blanket. I really like Master Effects. They make some very good pedals geared for playing Metal,Crust,Thrash,Etc.Great Demo. Great Chops. Love the Channel.I'd love to hear a demo of the Cross by M.E. Thanks-

Something isn't sounding right with the Misanthrope. To me it sounds like an impedance mismatch between the pedal output and the FX Return on the amp.
