Out of all of the vh140 inspired pedals, what would be your order from best to worst?
@MetalHeadProductions Жыл бұрын
Idk if I'd make that list. Personally I gravitate towards the snk because it's the most true to the vh140c. All the vh style pedals people can get cool tones out of. The only one I didn't care too much for is the misanthrope.
@shawnbeaghan9809 Жыл бұрын
Cool, I didn’t care for that one either.
@low_e_music Жыл бұрын
The SNK VHD is as close to the real thing as you can get. In a mix or live, I don't see any way you could tell the difference. In a blind test, even the raw tone would be very difficult to pick out.
@junkerscott Жыл бұрын
@@low_e_music the Thisheavyearth FleshRot is very good. It has more gain and a little more modern …. Both are really cool.
@junkerscott Жыл бұрын
Does the bright switch do anything on the lead channel? If it’s true to the Ampeg VH140C it only affects the clean channel. Your settings on the lead channel are almost identical to my settings on my Ampeg VH140… I have the gain a tad higher at 1 o clock though. Good demo/review!
@MetalHeadProductions Жыл бұрын
Yeah it adds a bit more top end and overall distortion so I tend to leave it on, and I would have the gain higher, it's just this pickup is so hot I get the same results at a lower gain setting.
@junkerscott Жыл бұрын

Kinda hard to find SNK stuff. Meanwhile there are quite a few Ampeg SS140s or the combos out there with similar preamps for the price of a pedal.
@MetalHeadProductions10 ай бұрын
SNK sells direct for their preamp VHD pedal, this amp, and a new full preamp that is the preamp from this amp, all at different price points, actually.

I'm waiting for the this heavy earth version to come out. I ran into Shea at Safeway of all places and he told me his brought bought this vh300 and sold it because apparently it's not the same as is a little muddy compared to the og. Just what i was told.
@MetalHeadProductions Жыл бұрын
Idk about that. Scott has really gone out of his way to recreate the original ampeg circuit. Before the vh300 was a thing, his vhd pedal was compared to a real 140c and even just the pedal was extremely close. Personally, I'm really happy with this amp.
@beatlejuice5951 Жыл бұрын

Cool, but. I did a quick google search and you can get a vh140c for cheaper. What am I missing?
@Admiral_Bongo Жыл бұрын
A few things: 1) Originals get bought quick, the prices are very volatile, sometimes you can't find one cheap and they're very sought after. 2) You can't get one outside of the US and many used sellers don't ship globally (in addition, it doesn't have a voltage switch, you have to use a transformer with it in most countries on this side of the Atlantic). 3) Many originals are in horrible shape, owing to the age (they're 20-30 years old, duh) and heavy use, and require servicing. 4) VH300 is real practical in the sense that it's small and light due to having a class D power amp. The original VH140C was CHUNKY. Old solid state Ampegs and Crates had tube-big power amps.
@MetalHeadProductions Жыл бұрын
Vh140c is going for like $1200 and up a lot of times and these are like $900, new, handmade, better quality and much less in size and weight, plus the 140c has been discontinued for a long, long time so they're not easy to come by.
@FOXDADDYSUPREME1 Жыл бұрын
Is there a market for the combos? I have a 212 from way back in the day that I never use.
@Admiral_Bongo Жыл бұрын
@@FOXDADDYSUPREME1 They sell, but for less. Have also seen many pics of people converting them into heads, not a hard thing to do. Combos have totally fallen out of fashion, for it's easier to use plugins/run the preamp into the USB interface at home. And for lives, well, no point in a combo when you plug into a 4x12 anyway. All it gives you is more size and weight.
@FOXDADDYSUPREME1 Жыл бұрын
@admiralbongo4389 makes sense. I had a head way way back and decided to look for another a while later. Their scarcity and high prices made me impatient, and I picked up the combo for a song. Head conversion could be a cool project if I can't sell it for much
