Like Yosemite so much - it directs rope end out of the loop. And, of course, it is reliable.

Used it before to tie line to stern anchor chain. I did it not even knowing it was an "official" knot or even it had a proper name. Intuition, intuition, intuition!

Sometimes you also think you have found something new, only to discover it is not. At least now you can give it a name 😉 😉 😉

thank you for sharing, I went to the perfection knot over bowline for 3 reasons: 1) working end useless dangles inside loop 2) security 3) linearity of standing end to loop. Alan Lee's Ampersand bowline resolved all those issues for me and is faster to tie around an object than the perfection knot.

Hello Samuel, thanks for making a comment. Yes, I would agree with you on what you say. I wonder if you would mind taking a look at the Imitation Slipped Bowline? At first I did not think that this could or would replace the Bowline, but after sometime of using it, I now use it instead of the Bowline. I do realise that the Imitation Slipped Bowline is "slipped, but when dressed up nice and firmly, it is not too easy to release. Also if required the working end could be passed through the slipped loop for additional security (or a toggle). Maybe it does not suit your purpose, but I certainly consider the Imitation Slipped Bowline as a go to loop knot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2KuhI2ciKx4hsk

@@KnottingKnots Is the eskimo bowline worse or better than the Imitation Slipped Bowline and Perfection Knot?
@KnottingKnots
@KnottingKnots Жыл бұрын
@@GavinKing_AKA_plumpNation I would say that if you are looking for security, then perhaps see what knots are recommended by climbing groups. However, if you are asking me which one I prefer, I can tell you that I use the Imitation Slipped Bowline all the time. I just love the fact that it is so quick and easy to tie and one tug to untie it. I have often use it to lift fairly heavy stuff and it has never failed on me. Some people are ready to criticise that the knot is slipped, and can be tripped by accident. My personal view is, if a knot is well dressed and tight, it can only be accidentally tripped by it being near an idiot 😉 😉 😉

I tie a tweenie bowline,if you make your loop and put the end through the loop and then put the end through the loop you have just formed you get a tweenie knot then take your end around the standing part and through both loops

On my website I list 160 variations on the Bowline knot. I don't have the Ampersand Bowline listed, that would make 161. And I know my website isn't up-to-date with some of the other variations I've seen and heard. I was able to tie 55 variations and I do show them on my website. I also show same knots with different names and different knots with same names. How many bowline variations? No one knows for sure. Website is www.morethanknots.com Thanks Johnny for your work. Good video.

I just practiced it and put it in to replace a Yosemite in a working application. Will see how it goes. The load is non-critical.

this sounds really stupid and dumb but could you use this as a climbing knot obviously with a double overhand stopper over standing end or is it not ment for that purpose?
@KnottingKnots
@KnottingKnots 4 жыл бұрын
Not stupid at all, The problem that I see, this is a rather new knot and has not really been around long enough for extensive testing. Also, I am the last person you should take advice from when it comes to safety. Maybe, show this knot to some professional climbers and see what they say about it? Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
