Idk why so many analysts can’t comprehend the Khalil Mack trade value. He went for LESS than two first round picks. In addition to the two 1s, the raiders got a 3rd and a 6th, but gave up a 2nd and a 5th. 2&5>3&6… Mack was much younger at the time of trade as well, so the browns wanting more than two 1s is too rich for my blood.

There are some small differences... Mack was also in the last year of a deal and the team he was traded to was coming off a 5-11 season and had not made the postseason since 2010 so there was an anticipation of improvement -- but not what they got to (12-4) so with a (wrongly) anticipated higher first Chicago was able to get a little more back. Losing two 1s definitely hurts (ask Mike Shanahan)... Now, if all it takes is Wash giving up two 1s? Both could be in the back end of the 1st so you could be getting Garrett for, say, two George Karlaftis' (30th in 2022) or G Cole Strange (29th in 2022)?. I would assume it would be more detailed than just two 1s and, yeah, Wash could get other lower picks in return. But if you're the Browns do two low 1sts as the main return move the needle for the DPOY? I have my doubts, but it depends on how small the potential suitors are so at this stage it's very hard to say. Heck, they won't even entertain hypothetical offers privately it sounds like. Garrett has two years left. That can make a difference on the price -- but I would assume he'd get an extension wherever he goes so perhaps a moot point.

Big difference. Raiders wanted to get rid of Mack, the Browns don't want to get rid of him. When you desperate you take what you can get. When you not, other teams are at your mercy. They could have gotten more, they chose not to.

It's amazing the percentage of fans who who advocate for bringing in all of these often injured players. If you want to win consistently you don't want players who are nicked or injured a lot in key positions. It causes thinning and inconsistency. Look at players like Baptiste or Magee or BRob if I hear next man up mentality again... You can be more efficient...yes injuries happen but those key guys that get hurt all the time can be an anchor in the sea

Build through the draft. Stay away from old players that get injuries ....don't trade for another teams problems.

The Rams traded 2 first and 4th for Ramsey. Traded 2 first and third for Stafford. Traded 2 day picks for Von Miller. Made key additions in free agency. Relied on guys picked in day 2 and day 3. From 2019-2023 they didn't have a first round pick. They have 2021 Super Bowl to show for it. Still a playoff team now

Myles Garrett isn't a problem. Not debating whether to trade or not -- everything depends on the cost -- but thinking he's 'another teams problem" is just inaccurate.

Garrett Wilson isn’t talked about enough, I’d give up #29 for him. But cooper kupp should be intriguing, the word is that the rams are only looking for a mid-round pick… excellent route runner and excellent at contested catches. Another ideal 3rd down target…

The money won't be an issue. For example a team like 49ers have Bosa highest paid defensive player in league history. Hargrave at like 20 mil year. Guys like Deebo, Trent, Kittle getting paid. Warner and Ward too. Lenoir and Ayiuk just got a deals. Purdy is due next. We have guys that know how to work contracts. A place AP came from

Pass, Quinn needs more talented pieces that fits his style of play. AP has real shot at setting franchise up for next few seasons with draft and value free agents. Dumping a huge investment into one guy not named Jayden makes no sense to me.

It definitely comes with a cost -- and no one yet knows what that truly will be -- but quite sure he'd fit Quinn's style of play. Not sure why he wouldn't. Arguably the best defensive player in the NFL; quite sure he's still talented.

@ No doubt he fits into any system but the risk is too high for me. Roster needs 3 to 4 new starters to complete at next level and Garrett hinders the opportunity to do that. Their rookies outside of Sinott are already starters or in key roles so nobody being groomed. I’d be more inclined if we didn’t have AP but I think better shot at letting him build out roster thru another draft/free agency

"Two First Round Picks" ?? John, if you have ANY subsequent posts on Myles I want you to speculate on who the Commanders would draft with their first round picks in 2025 and 2026. Then please emphasize when we draft these we get them for 4 years each at an affordable price, 8 years of affordable performance, while the Myles thing just gets us two years of full price performance. When Myles Garrett signed his current contract that was priced at his value. It DOES NOT MAKE SENSE that he is NOW worth his salary plus all these draft picks. The only difference is marquee value. Commanders do not need marquee value, they already have it based on performance.

Myles likely signs an extension if traded. Elite guys like Garret still produce in their 30's. Khail Mack at 33 still has high production. Von Miller would have the third most sacks for us at 35. Playing 13 games and playing specialist role. Aaron Donald was still dominant at 32 and his retirement was looked at as being early. This years draft have like 12 guys with 1st round grade. At pick 29 your getting a guy with 2nd round grade. If it's Edge guys like Scourton, Stewart from Texas A&M. Or Williams from GA they are not sack guys. Or undersized guys like Pierce or Green who may be to small against the run. Comparing a dominant defense player vs cost effective guys you hope develop. Where alot of 1st round picks don't make it

"I want you to..."? .... Not sure how I would know who they might take in 2026 when I have no clue what they might do in 2025 -- or who would even be in the draft. But you can google and find out who was selected in their spot over the last several years. Pretty much can bet that none are considered the best defensive player in the NFL. He would sign an extension. With Daniels, they have several years before they need to pay. By the time they need to pay him, they'd be able to get out of Garrett's contract. Not saying this will happen but i'd rather have Garrett for 4 years than the players they MIGHT pick at 29 this year and, if all goes well, in the same spot or lower in 2026. But it always depends on the overall cost. If I'm Cleveland, hard to trade right now if the best 1st round pick you can get this season is 29th.

If it wasn't for the owner being a dim bulb and the GM/coach being on the hot seat, trading Garrett should be a no-brainer for this team. This team is 2-3 years from contention - and that's optimistically. Garrett will likely be exiting his prime at that point. Maximize your return on him and use that to rebuild faster. It shouldn't be complicated. But of course, the owner has a reputation, and the GM/coach ARE on the hot seat. If Garrett does hit the open market, I expect the bidding war for him to be pretty intense. He's not coming cheap. If it were just the Commies 2025 1st and 2026 1st, I'd do it for sure. But I expect that to be the starting point of the negotiation, not the finishing point.

Kupp is a declining 32 y/o that hasn’t had 1000 yards in 3 years. AP already said he believes in building thru the draft. We may trade for Garrett but we can get a free agent WR and keep our picks.

Hi. Let me in on a little secret: If I only could do a podcast when the actual trade is made, wouldn't be of much value. Trying to give people insight into a situation and why it might or might not work and what it might entail and whether or not Cle will even do. If you'd rather not learn about a situation, that's your prerogative. And by definition every podcast is click bait. Why? Because why wouldn't i want someone to download every one i do?
