@@adownbeatexegete1549 One guitar will not dethrone ISW - I own like six of their guitars, they're all amazing. I'll def check Odin 3 out though, thanks 👍 it is unfortunate however that the UI is upside-down. This is why I never bought any Toontrack guitar: as a guitarist/bassist, I like to see the instrument be orientated properly as if I was playing it. The same reason why drum software always looks like you're sitting behind the kit.

I prefer both. each have different advantages. play them both together and they compliment each other very nicely. but it doesnt stop there . use a clean sound and add say an arch type gojira amp sim and boom another dimension of options show up.

@cachelesssociety5187 Жыл бұрын
I think the effect of palm muted metal riffs and chords is slightly better captured by Hydra. I'm just about to pick up Heavier 7 Strings, and I may buy Hydra as well because the articulation systems are different enough that each may have their strengths (heavier is very easy to work with though, once one gets over the strange aspect of chord detection - which I believe Hydra may have a slightly easier take on but I haven't used it and there doesn't appear to be a way to demo Hydra.

while you are correct in this example, it is very bizarre to witness. in every use case i've experienced shreddage is VASTLY more realistic than ample. i can't see the details of this setup, but i suspect the issue with this track is the approach to midi. as well as the amp simulation. the velocity appears to be quite robotic. i don't see any rake picking occurring, nor can i see the pick strength setting, nor any other articulation setting (there are SO many to choose from to create very realistic, playable guitars in shreddage). there is very little randomness to the attacks in most of the riffs (which by default is all naturally executed by velocity) and i suspect the various randomization settings (which are enabled by default) are turned down or off. the more accurate controlled test would be to run the INIT patch for both guitars through the same amp sim. context - i've been a full-time, professional producer for 20 years. i own every shreddage guitar, and only a few ample guitars, as ample is way behind in realism currently. even out of the box, every shreddage guitar sounds infinitely more realistic than any ample guitar. shreddage owns the vst guitar market for now. modo bass from ik multimedia owns the bass category. superior drummer 3 from toontrack owns the drum category.
