PRO tip for guitar players on Rocksmith, select the option to show the strings upside down so it looks like our regular tabs, with the first string on top. It's way easier to play that way if you are somewhat experienced.

I did the same thing a year ago. However, nowadays i just use tabs on songster or using guitar pro. I think the Rocksmith is hard to read quickly so its actually easier to just use tabs. After switching to tab, I found myself able to play stuff i couldnt play on rocksmith because it was much easier to read. Also i feel like i can focus on my playing technique more instead of focusing on the game

Same here. I play 2014 on PC with all the custom songs i could ever want, and my signal splits out to one of 3 amps (Kemper Marshall and H&K) so i don't have to deal with the bad tones 2014 has. Rocksmith has really taught me to be able to play what ever is in front of me without prior knowledge., Also, since i read as i play, I do it without having to look at my guitar.

​@supa_powa7490 yes and no. Rocksmith is a great training aid but the biggest issue, AND ITS A BIG ONE. is the game tells you what you're doing right but DOES NOT tell you what you are doing wrong. You can learn some good skills but will develop MANY bad habits. Get lessons while using this as a tool.

​@@supa_powa7490hey man, just to answer your question as someone who is 31 and a complete noob who started using a combination of Rocksmith 2014 and Yousician: yes it's possible. I don't play clean yet after 6 weeks, but I am able to play about 5 songs from memory, and learning songs on these platforms is fun and easy. My advice: make sure to have practice time where you do NOT use Rocksmith or Yousician, etc and make a conscious effort to actually learn music and the songs outside of the platforms. There's a dilemma that seems to happen with most new players on these platforms where you can "know how to play a song" on the platform, but then without it, you can really remember anything. So be mindful of that. I also highly recommend looking into Yousician as well, it teaches a lot of valuable stuff that Rocksmith overlooks, like ear tuning through note finding games, music theory, how to read sheet music, and in my opinion has a more thoughtful learning path laid out for beginner guitar players. Rocksmith of course has an impressive library of songs, and the 2014 version of the game as guitarcade which is honestly one of the coolest things offered anywhere, because it makes fun arcade style games out of training technique to you. So I use both and have had great results. Good luck to you.

All it did was essentially let me skip the first few months of fumbly awkwardness; if I were to rely on it (which I did for way too long) then id still be a beginner that just got to skip half the tutorial essentially.

Exactly yeah, I'm completely new to guitar and everything involving it and I'm using Rocksmith as a supplemental tool for practice and learning and it's helping me so much. Rock Band is one of my all time favourite games so the really "game-y" interface and presentation makes it really easy for me to jump in and is a huge boon to me and learning all the fundamentals properly.

It’s quite expensive actually. Because it’s a free “game” now, it comes with next to no music. Song packs are expensive. People have asked to be able to buy a version like 2014 with a selection of music, but they refuse. One of the most disappointing things I have encountered on Steam.

My first electric guitar lessons were via Rocksmith. My son bought me my first electric guitar (a Squire Strat), and he bought me Rocksmith to go with it. Rocksmith did a great job of getting me ready for more formalized lessons 🎸🎸🎸 It's been six years since I last used Rocksmith, so it may be time to update it and see how well I play it now 😊 it definitely couldn't hurt 🤕😅

I'm in my 50's and haven't played guitar in over 20 years, so I am almost a beginner again. I started using Rocksmith+ to help me practice. I find the exercises are great to warm me up so I can practice what my personal guitar instructor is teaching me every week. Your video did a great job of showing what RS+ is capable of. I like how you tailored it to what you needed to see. Was also good to see you use an audio interface for it. One thing I don't recall you mentioning was that they do sell an affordable USB guitar cable for people that don't already have a DI. At the end you asked if we wanted to see your music in RS+. That's a big hell yeah! Keep on rocking.

Rocksmith original when I was in high school was like the coolest thing i had ever seen! I didn't like Guitar Hero because i wanted to actually learn the songs, but I'm not very good at learning through tab. Rocksmith helped me get the rhythms, bends, and other techniques figured out way easier then i would by myself.

It also has bass and keyboard too. I don't have a bass, so I can't speak for that one, but the keyboard option is great. Any song you learn can be played off the game as well. Best learning software I've ever seen.

Rocksmith 2014 was instrumental (pun intended) to get me to learn and practice guitar in my first year and a half. It's important to eventually branch out and not remain stuck to it, but if you're just looking to get started, it's a great tool to do so. Unfortunately they removed it from Steam and went the subscription route with Plus which I don't think comes as a surprise to anyone, most players didn't like.

One important tip I have for people using Rocksmith as a way to learn: Don't ONLY use Rocksmith to learn/play guitar. Remember to play guitar *outside* the context of the game. Otherwise, you'll be relying too much on your eyes to play the guitar (looking at the screen for notes), and not your ears and brain (listening for notes, focusing on rhythm). I liked using Rocksmith 2014 to play quite a bit, but noticed myself not really remembering the songs, or focusing on the sounds I was making. I was basically treating it like Guitar Hero. Though fun, I don't think it helped me improve much, only introduced me to new songs I might not have sought to learn.

luckily (at least the 2014 remastered ver) the game will notice you are able to play songs well and the notes will start to actually fade out if you played the section/certain number of notes right! seems like they realized that could happen early on, obviously you cant have your difficulty set tyo a specific number that way but if you dont and you just are playing the songs over and over it should be doing that.

I know a lot of people like rocksmith 2014, probably due to the fact that it was a one time purchase, so people instantly write rocksmith+ off due to the subscription model. I prefer rocksmith+ however, the lessons are so much better and i really like the layout! Plus you also get piano which is huge!

I'm a beginner using rocksmith+ to learn how to play guitar. What makes it a lot harder for me is the fact that I cant maneuver my fretboard without looking at it. So I always have to learn segments of what I want to play or practice so I can focus more on what I'm doing rather than blinding trying to hit the right notes starring at my screen. Been having a lot of fun with it!

I played the first version of this game and it is a very good tool especially for beginners and intermediate I like the mini games where you play duck hunt but at the same time it's prepping you to learn whatever song it is that you pick.

I think Rocksmith is a good compliment to having regular guitar lessons. If anything, it can spark interest. You play REAL guitar after all, not Guitar Hero. I've been playing Rocksmith 2014 on PC to keep my guitar skills fresh. Plus, I get to hear lots of banger songs. Plus, I've tried many unfamiliar tunings. The arcade-style games are great exercises.

I have the first Rocksmith on my ps3 and Rocksmith 2014 on PC and i like them very much! I learnt a lot of stuff to play on my bass. The minigames are good to practice, sometimes i play those only and a couple of weeks later i just put on a song what i find difficult and slay them. :D I would love the settings of the RS+ (specially that auto pitch shifting mode) but i don't want to pay monthly for something what i won't use from day to day.

it's a definite improvement over the original rocksmith, or rocksmith 2014 (i had both). they were fun, but playing through the console had latency issues, and if you had hot pickups, it wouldn't work. The practice games like pitch baseball were where the real fun was.

It is the cheapest guitar teacher and it won't spend half your session doing yawn inducing solos. I can read sheet and tab, but honestly Rocksmith+ removes some of the moving parts. I don't need to change pages, or even divert my gaze much other than side to side. That allows me to focus on what really matters, the notes. On the other hand, nothing makes patterns stick out more than standard sheet music notation and a large part of being a high level player is instantly recognizing various patterns. Take a boom chick song like Freight Train by E. Cotton. You instantly notice the alternating bass, the syncopations in the melody, and the chord structure, all within a couple seconds of seeing the sheet music. That is the one big thing that people learning from Rocksmith+ will be missing out on. That being said, tab plus rhythm notation more less does everything I said. All in all it is probably the best option for a large swath of people just starting out, or even just adding some more songs and genres to their bag of tricks.

I'm envious too! I had to print out tab sheets too, IF I could even find them as a lot of the music I was in to there just weren't tab's so I ended up having to keep rewinding tapes or CDs and learning to play by ear. When I was 13 or 14 I ended up writing out tabs of my own for Iced Earth (I was obsessed with them around that time) and making my own website after learning a little bit of HTML. This was around....maybe 1998 or 99 maybe? I played an old version of Rocksmith and I couldn't do it with all the moving crap on screen, but with the newer tab feature I think I just might try it again..

I've tried using Rocksmith 2014 since R+ wasn't available in my country in 2021. Unfortunately, it requires additional steps to work with audio interfaces like the Scarlett Solo or Yamaha THR II (with ASIO). I wasn't expecting that anyone would implement a guitar effects browser (as a software engineer, I can assume that's a significant pain to do). So, R+ seems quite interesting for practicing, even with up to 30 ms latency.

What additional steps? Getting RS2014 to run with pretty much any ASIO interface is as simple as 'installing' rs_asio. The 'tone' studio is actually more robust in RS2014 than in RS+ if you want to dial in a specific tone/effect, too...

@@zwerko Most of the time, I played without sound feedback from the game and passed the guitar through to the Yamaha THRII.

@@zwerko Before I bought the Scarlett Solo, I had to adjust the settings file because the guitar had low gain, or I had no sound from the game on Windows. On Mac, it was simpler-I just needed to create a multi-output audio device with the same name as the Rocksmith Cable but it doesn’t work with mods.

Waterworks and When it Rains it Pours ;) I also spent too much time in RS 2014. I never tried multiplayer mode. I don't know if that is possible in Rocksmith+ ?

Rocksmith is awesome. It's what got me learning guitar over 10 years ago. I haven't played it in a very very very long time as I just jam, learn tabs, etc now days. But Rocksmith was my stepping stone BUT!!!! The game that should of blown up was Bandfuse.... It was like Rocksmith but it taught you actual tabs..... Crap..... As I'm writing this I see Rocksmith added the tab function... Well Bandfuse did it first! Plus they had Black Label Society in the game 🤘🏻

I love the old 2014 version but pitch shifting would be so much nicer than retuning the guitar multiple times during the continuous play mode.

I got RS1 the day it came out. It's got a lot of features that should have been included in RS2014, RS2014RM, and RS+, like the career mode, venue unlocking, and the responsive audience. Sure, it was taking cues from Guitar Hero, but it was a better game. Ubi decided to be all "Hey, this is a superior learning tool" for some strange reason.

It looks like they really have been working on R+, i tried it about a year ago for bass and it was a Lag cluster with more foren songs nobody outside small local pubs around the world knew

Yes using only rocksmith 2014 or + to learn guitar. It just makes more fun this way to practice an instrument. Still hope rocksmith+ gets more Songs.

I had the original Rocksmith game on PS4... I loved it... I used to advise people on bass players pages to get it... Lot of good things on these games n it lets u play thru ur actual gear instead of a fake guitar or bass... Definitely a cool tool I wish I had when I started playing years ago...

That learning thing is what I need, I'm bored doing the spider by myself. That tab mode is awesome and what I missed in Rocksmith 2014 (sorry if it is there, I never thought I can change the 3D view to a much more reasonable one).

This seemed really cool until i saw the subscription price. Why is it I can get ALL of the music in the world for $12 a month but every other company in the world thinks they can charge $20-30 for very little. I had the last rocksmith and i can still use it for what i paid years ago.

If there's even the tiniest bit of head phone bleed from the guitar in the room, having it pitch shifted a semi-tone would actually be a nightmare :D Guess you better buy some damn good isolating head phones, maybe even some of those that drummers use when recording to protect their hearing.
