I'm more afraid of re-stringing! I tried re-stringing 2 or 3 times years ago, and I hated it so much I dread the thought of trying it again.

I totally get it. It takes me forever and it’s never as tight as I want it to be. As I redo it, I do one section at a time. Arms one day, then legs etc., with lots of breaks to figure out exactly what I’m doing because it is scary and hard

What a beautiful color! You made it look so easy. I think I would probably enjoy the hobby more if I just jumped in and did some things like this. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Can you get a nice rich dark brown with this method?
@BENEDOLLS4 жыл бұрын
yes you can and you can also get a nice deep rich color by leaving it in the dye bath longer.

@@BENEDOLLS Thank you so much, for your video and your super fast reply! (I'm a complete beginner at all this so I'm looking for advice everywhere. Putting together a family of dolls; would like them different shades, but all brown.)

Great video.. By the way Rit fabric will dye many vinyl's, and resins. I've dyed many doll's using it .
@BENEDOLLS6 жыл бұрын
That's great to know. I hoped that would be the case. I stockpiled lots of Rit dye before finding iDye Poly

Wow! This is so impressive. I too would like to dye my doll hair black using the Rit Synthetic Graphite Dye. ( Without pulling them off the scalp though) ( Also, without ruining the face and needing to work on a face up at a later stage) I have a chelsea Mattel; a chelsea pony Mattel; a German Steffi Love doll Hyper articulated and two Korean Ddung doll in 11cm each. How does one get a strong permanent shade using Rit ? Does vinegar help? Temperature? How to avoid spoiling the face and still get to the roots on the scalp for a full coverage. All of them are beautifully blonde as of now. Any other tips you have that could help me. I would b ever so grateful to you. Thank you 🤍✨🙏🏻

To get a rich deep color for your doll, use more dye than water then leave the doll in the dye bath longer.
@theneptuneseas64834 жыл бұрын
@@BENEDOLLS considering I'm not pulling out the hair, I must continuously brush her hair with the hot dye water for upto an hour or so for it to retain that Highly pigmented look ? As dipping the figure in and leaving won't be an option in such a scenario.
@theneptuneseas64834 жыл бұрын
@@BENEDOLLS is there a specific ratio you'd use. I'm new to all this and indubitably wouldn't want to spoil any of the above-mentioned dolls...
@BENEDOLLS4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what the doll's hair is made of. I tried to dye the hair of several dolls and the dye never took. The hair just looked like a darker blond.

I usually don't measure. I add dye and mix and start when I like the color. I am still experimenting and I am very happy with the range of colors.

Wow, your boy turned out brilliant! He looks so uniform and perfect, I actually thought he was casted in this color originally because I saw your last video before this one. I wonder if using the lower heat from the coffee pot helped with this? It seems other dyed dolls are so much more splotchy unless it's a super dark brown or black. I think all your research paid off though, you had a very good idea of what you were going to do and how you wanted to do it, which is always helpful. I hope you'll share any further dyeing experiments you do!
@BENEDOLLS6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, I just love this color. I really do think the low steady consistent heat from the coffee pot helps and mixing in the granules thoroughly is key. I agree darker colors are more forgiving. I plan to use a liquid dye for the lighter colors which might cut down on the splotchy look.
@sighthoundlady156 жыл бұрын
BENEDOLLS is the liquid dye made by idyepolly too? I’m really interested to see your results!
@BENEDOLLS6 жыл бұрын
The liquid dye that I have is just the RIT. I purchased so many lovely colors that I'm hoping the slow heat method will help bond the lighter colors onto the resin without looking mottled. I'll definitely share my results.

Hi, I collect and modify fashion dolls. After dying with iDye Poly, I've been horrified to find that the dye has faded over time. Would you have any info on maintaining the dyed color?
@BENEDOLLS3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. Perhaps you can try sealing the dye with a spray sealer and keeping the doll away from sunlight.

Idk if you have affiliate links set up with Amazon, but if not you should. They will give you credit each time we buy something like the dye that you linked. It would help fund your doll collection.... just saying.... :)

Pretty color blue, do you plan on dying any other dolls? What color hair is he going to have?
@BENEDOLLS6 жыл бұрын
Yes I have a lot of dye left so I might try dying an ABS plastic bjd. Not sure on hair color, either a shade of blue or a high contrast color, and I'll probably use faux fur
