The effects loop opts are an awesome feature and the tonal characteristics highlighted in this vid do present this as a very nice pedal unto themselves. And given it is obviously not tube driven, it can easily based on this vid hold its own against some of the best tube pedals within the price range. You definitely intrigued me enough to give this pedal a serious listen see.

Is this running direct or thru a cab. I noticed with the amt it sounded like you were running out of the emulator out. I think you should mic a cab it would do way better justice for you. My amt ss20 sounds amazing through a cab.

Have you tried the Empress Effects HEAVY? It seems like it might be a top contender as well. Also, what about the Blackstar HT-Metal, does it compare to the Amptweaker Tightmetal Pro? I've been told that the Amptweaker Big-Rock Pro can get a lot of these sounds but is more versatile...

Justin E. Beasley, I own the Blackstar HT Metal pedal for some years now and absolutely love it. Pry it from my cold dead hands. The thing is when I bought it I was truly torn between it and the Tight Metal. I went with HT because of the actual tube being actually driven by actual high internal voltage, 300v I think. has to be better right? but I still have never got to hear the Tweaker in person and "tweak the nobs" And now there's a new one. so I still wonder, is it heavier? the Blackstar is hard to make sound bad. it's extremely versatile, from faintly noticed spunk to all out call for war. and it all sounds good. And very well made I might add. But I still want more. more face melting, more skull crushing, snot blowing, fire breathing, hell, fury and damnation. I think Blackstar stopped just shy of that. And maybe that's just me, but perhaps it's you as well. so for whatever it's worth I'm still considering it. The Tweaker looks like it would let you plug the Blackstar into it. ....hmm

I love The Tone King, his reviews, his attitude, his sense of humor. But I also love this pedal (and own it) and to be honest, this doesn't come across sounding like the pedal at its best. Not bad, but it actually sounds like a (super hot) HM-2 here. I actually like this tone, but I think that for some people in the market for this pedal, they could be mis-led here. So, TTK rules, but check out the Japanese guy's demo on KZbin ("Jake Cloudchair") if you want to hear a different set of tones from this pedal.

James Brown The effect loops seem like a cool idea. The video of "Summer NAMM '13 - Amptweaker Fat Rock & Tight Metal Pro Demos" shows James using the Fat Rock's Side Trak with the Tight Rock. AB with pedal(s) and/or an amp. At 8:18, he demos the Boost Loop with a Carbon Copy. I like typically put the Carbon Copy at the end. Not sure I'd ever use the Boost Loop. Maybe for a cocked wah? TK, thanks for the demo! But now I can't get Bill Paxton in Aliens out of my head. Game over man!

I've been playing JB's designs for years but I can't justify $300 for a dirt box. Just for me personally, there is a lot here I would never use but it certainly sounds good. If I'm after a solid high gain sound without much fanfare, there are other options for nowhere near this price but I can see for a gigging player, where the options would serve a useful purpose. TK, you should try the Metal Pedals Bomb Shell. Killer pedal w/ built in noise gate. Nonetheless, JB rules.

I prefer a dirt box going into an already overdriven tube amp with just enough distortion on the pedal to flavor the tone. In my opinion they all sound like ass thru the clean channel, just my opinion.

It's a great pedal....but not as cool as the isp theta or amt ss30 bulava.. ..of all products out there for high gain, the bulava is the best for the price and functions.....the isp is the best, but more expensive
