@@yuletide I don't get your intention. He hasn't talked about playing at all, it was solely about the gear. And btw., if it's about pedals itself, you can easily build them yourself. A 200 dollars pedal for 20 bucks? No problem. Most of the times, the housing is the most expensive part, which is quite funny to me. The learning curve isn't that hard. But you need the tools for it too of course..

@@Deathrape2001 Try putting a rockmaster preamp on a pedalboard. If you're getting into "the used market of things no longer made" there's also a lot of other options (that wasn't the point of the video, he's showing current pedals you can buy new at various price points). Also, pedals are just fun to play with, which is one of the main points of this video. There's lots of people making a good living playing guitar who get their distortion from a pedal. Also the rockmaster pre needs a good eq pedal put on it to sound really good. I used to have one years ago (I don't do rack gear anymore, that's a whole other can of worms to open up and bulky to boot).

I generally run a KMH Logan into it to use as a pre-amp and treat the Eyemaster as a distortion circuit, sounds very unique if you dial it in right! It has the savagery of the HM-2 sound with more chord and chug definition, very enjoyable :). And of course I can just press a few buttons and go back to my old trusty chainsaw sound again B)

"Amplifiers are kinda disappearing more and more". Dist pedals have come a long way. Its a trip for me to witness the trajectory of both the music industry and specifically gear, from when I started to the present time. This video makes me feel nostalgic enough to get one and go back to the old days before vsts and modelers. Thats going full circle from my early days with a little practice amp.

A note about the Eyemaster: it HAS to be run into a secondary distortion/overdrive in order to get the intended sound. It has an extreme post-distortion EQ that is meant to boost the hell out of the next overdrive stage, causing the "tearing/ripping" swedish deqth metal sound.

Friedman BE-OD Deluxe is 10x better than the Revv G3, Even the Non Deluxe version of BE-OD is better than the G3. Glad i sold my G3. But the Metal Core pedal is iconic. It rivals the BE-OD Deluxe surely but still imma go with the Friedman since im bias towards them. Everyone is saying that Boss's Drives sucks and theyre Modulations are only good but to me theyre good. Metal Core>Power Stack>Heavy Metal on Boss's. Metal Core is always worth getting. That Behringer is also bang for the buck yet sounds good.

I think the quality of the REVV is its compressed yet very clear sound. Most compressed sounds swallow all dynamics and make a guitar sound more like a keyboard. The REVV doesn't do this at all. I love it.

I have the Metal Core but changed to a Metal Muff. Who can say no to a Muff 🙂 then I bought a Solar guitar and due to that buy I found out about you Mr Englund and this channel. So i started to watch and watch and watch and then you show all cool stuff so you are the reason I now have a mooer Black Truck, a Headrush gigboard and now resently a BluGuitar Amp1 Iridium. Buying your great guitar turned out to be very expensive for me 😂 but I heard somewhere most toys win so I am happy but more poor.

I'm a big fan of the Behringer pedal series. For the price of a couple of beers, you can experiment with tons of different sounds, including reasonably classic effects. I've had $2500 pedals and I've had $25 pedals. For $25, Behringer cannot be beat.
