mam.. if there is a case of below knee amputation... but there was so much infection in the foot that's why the stitches had to be removed after operation and the wound was opened unless the infection clears but while infection removal the muscles also grew and almost took the level of skin.... and now there is around 1 inch of muscular area after the bone ends and if that leg is put onto anything then there would be around 1 inch distance between bone and that thing... so please tell me... in that case can the patient put on artificial leg.....?

AmputeeOT ...I'm a PT working with an older patient who just received her AK prosthesis. She has arthritic hands/fingers. Her particular prosthetic has lanyard suspension. Any ideas/thoughts on how to being the process of training her to be independent with donning/doffing her prosthesis. As of now, it's a true workout for ME to put on. It's been at least 10 years since I had a new amputee as a patient, and the technology has advanced so far. I'm working with an awesome prosthetist but I feel like your point of view could be extremely valuable. Thanks for any input that you may have!!

Do you have problems with sweating? Is it worse where you have the 'folds' (folds=the places it isn't smoth on your skin), I'm a new amputee July 29, 14 and will not get anything until mid Jan but I have a huge fold due to multiple knee surgeries. Right now in the shrinkers I have to make sure I clean the fold extra because it seems to sweat more there.

I have a ratchet,and, two side straps on my leg but my stump has not surnk it just got fatter so they say this why they put the straps on my stupm just moves up,and, down put I am use to this

christina has a ratchet system. i thought it was kind neat. so far ive had the stupid strap, and what you see here in the video, the passive suction. next one will be the elevated vaccum. didnt like the lanyard it was to much work, and didnt keep my leg straight. It was constantly turning on me.

Good to see technology has kept up to date for you guys I bet your shore glad your leg wasn’t shot off by a musket ball while you were wearing an eye patch. The technology back then was a bit behind the times would have been showing how to undo your crudely tacked piece of leather belt from your crudely snapped piece of drift wood arhhhh. What are the hardest ways an above amputee deals with every day living. I got my amputation on March 12, 2012 amputee OT and I'm just now starting to do physical therapy. I'm above knee amputee since 2020 and broke my good leg had screws and a rod and plate, I'm in PT all you can do is work hard there's pain and soreness, but when you improve you feel good about yourself, I'm starting to walk with a cane in PT, not far but each time I go farther

Hi madam, I'm a new amputtee who is surveying for my prostheses. May I ask what is the different between a locking and seal in liner, and also which would you recommend?

A locking liner has a pin at the bottom that locks into a lock at the bottom of the socket. A seal-in liner has a seal/gasket on the liner and seals with suction. As to which in would recommend, Your prosthetist is the best person to ask, there are many personal factors involved in choosing a liner.

The United States, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico aren't the issue. The TSA has guidelines they have to follow. They have to take you in a room or behind a curtain to check you prosthesis. Since, it's not everyone elses business about what's going on with you.

Hey I wonder if you guys develope more arm muscles after the amputation. I had to go on crutches for 3 months and I have arms like never before, like Popeye XD Do you see there any difference, even you don't need the crutches on the regular basis anymore, because there are still many tasks you now do with arms instead of your legs I suppose.
