I am a big champion of right to self determination and wish this was given to Kashmir when Nehru promised it in UN. But the right of self determination is not absolute, right to basic human rights and dignity ( core of Sikh philosophy) trumps right to self determination) because Punjab is divided between 60-40 Hindu Sikh identity and the identity in itself is fluid as both intermarry and have mixed beliefs. In such circumstances forcing self determination is asking for tearing down social cohesion and peace which goes even beyond even human rights because it will lead to a civil war

Thing is even US does-not have any provision for this....Also Britain the mother of parliamentary democracy has to only accommodate Scottish independence referendum only recently..in almost 1500 years of its existence... Also in India all religions are spread across all territories in a homogeneous way....So its not possible to have a separate state or country with in the Union

India has never signed any such agreement, with any such tribe or anything. Yes, princely states were added into India, but no one gave them the rights to stand up against the Integrity. What is their problem to be with India. The whole Punjab is not hungry. Chandigarh and other cities like patiyala and Amritsar is already making big. They don't understand that the state will be like Pakistan at a time if they separate. And if a state giving majority India food supply,it's like heart of India. Punjab is important for us. It's foolish to give them so called khalistan. Punjab is an integral part of India. And we are proud of it.

First of all there are many many people who do not want a part of india to be seperated. Neither do we want you punjabis to become seperated from india. Also, if you get separated, india will have constant unnecessary treats from khalistan or you might be captured by Pakistan or china which is even more hectic for india. Thats why this cannot be granted by separating lands but by solving internal disputes
