If you have to taste one chicken dish in Amritsar, most locals will direct you to Beera Chicken House. A modest eatery that dates back over four decades, they cook their hugely popular, (apparently they sell over 250 birds a day!) roast chicken marinated in tandoori spices and mustard oil, not in a tandoor but over a sizzling charcoal grill. And the result is a chicken kebab that arrives steaming hot at the table, moist and juicy, laden with smoky flavours. We made a meal of this, and an excellent kadai chicken and dal makhani too.

Wow. So glad that they are giving Foil with chicken. My experience with Bira was very bad when I visited there in 2018 they served tandoori chicken in plate and it had some serious blood. I sent it back for correction and they came back with same and I left the plate as it is and asked for bill without even touching the plate. Shameless, they gave the bill and the waiter told their manager at the counter about my disappointment and yet he didn't care and said give the bill. Then I left obviously left and landed at Charming Chicken slightly ahead. Man, my anger vanished after having their famous butter chicken. If you can just try Charming Chicken Kripal Sir, it would be super awesome. Their fried chicken, butter chicken, malai Chicken. Man o man. Slightly under rated and a hidden sort of gem.

Your Hindi is fabulous Kripal..Kannadigas and Telugus are always good about learning Hindi..I love our flexible nature and so many of us are Trilingual…our native language, Hindi and English. Ask a Tamilian the same they won’t try or learn Hindi… 🤦‍♀️.. They don’t want to learn. No I don’t mean Tamilans settled in North India, I mean Tamilians in South..very insular people

Kripal Ammana Sir....This is the right way to enjoy food....Though I am from Delhi and love Delhi Veg and Non veg food, but I visit Amritsar regularly just for food.... It's the water of Amritsar that does the trick....eat as much you want, but it gets digested very quickly....you again feel hungry..... This is the reason why people are having Poori cholay at Kanha as early as 7.30 am.....

Hi Kripal, I know you are going to visit popular places. If not on your list, you may try Bakewell patties, the last time I tried these butter baked layered potato or paneer filled patties was in 1998 and totally enjoyed these. Hope they are still good, someone with a recent experience can comment. Plus try the Shahi Paneer on Lawerence Rd that is not the typical paneer cubes cooked in yellow gravy but more like a hung curd dish.
