If you have to taste one chicken dish in Amritsar, most locals will direct you to Beera Chicken House. A modest eatery that dates back over four decades, they cook their hugely popular, (apparently they sell over 250 birds a day!) roast chicken marinated in tandoori spices and mustard oil, not in a tandoor but over a sizzling charcoal grill. And the result is a chicken kebab that arrives steaming hot at the table, moist and juicy, laden with smoky flavours. We made a meal of this, and an excellent kadai chicken and dal makhani too.
