Today we will be looking at the Greenstrawberry resin parts for the AMT 1/537 scale USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Refit. The two main parts we will be looking at from Greenstrawberry are the Planetary Sensors and the Main bridge. A notice to everyone replying to this comment: I years past had a "how-to" book (from FineScale Modeler, or Kalmbach?) on accurising and detailing various kits. One article in it addressed the numerous inaccuracies of the AMT 1:537th-scale kit of the Starship Enterprise refit, as we first saw in Star Trek The Motion Picture (1979, Paramount Pictures, Robert Wise, Jerry Goldsmith). If you can find it, you might identify the other errors. One that stands out in my recollection was the dorsal interconnect (what some colloquially call the "neck") where it abuts against the ventral surface of the Primary Hull (what some erroneously call the "saucer section", deriving from an archaism from the 1940s, which has no place in the twenty-first century, let alone the late twenty-second). Several horizontal lines were of incorrect measurements, which he resolved through overlaying small lengths of extruded polystyrene strip stock fitted to the contours. I think the article's author even sanded down all the unnecessary raised hull surface detail. Oh, that had to be a thrill ride!

The B/C decks are available from Lake Monster Details. If I recall correctly, they're using the molds from DLM.

The DLM parts are being reissued through Lake Monster Details. This includes the B/C deck.

@@HobbyLinkInternational Green Strawberry does produce excellent parts, and I can understand your prefence. Cass Swensen of Lake Monster Details acquired the DLM part molds and is working to produce them. The major difference between GS and LMD is that LMD is a side business for Mr. Swensen whereas GS is the primary business of its operators. While GS may eventually develop a replacement B/C deck for NCC-1701 refit, LMD has it now and it is also excellent. At least have a look. Your choice of vendor.

Totally understand and it was a nice part as I have had it from DLM. I have no plans on building this for awhile. Hopefully by then Greenstrawberry has the new part.

Actually *Round 2* has announced that they are looking into-, or maybe even decided already, to make a more accurate 1/537 Enterprise Refit. Simply because it's the one kit that always still sell out. I saw them talking about In the videos from this year's Wonderfest. Also a 1/1000 "Enterprise D" from TNG. Also a 1/350 "Qo'noS One" version of the "K'Tinga". Some other stuff as well like a Studio Size "Tie Fighter". A decent scale "Blockade Runner" etc.

@@HobbyLinkInternational It might only have been mentioned in the Round 2 QA video from Wonderfest and maybe not on the announcement video. There were a lot more upcoming projects talked about in the QA video than in the other video. Also taking in feedback from the audience of model builders. Like if they could chose between X or Y, what would they prefer Round 2 release etc? Very interesting stuff.

Hi , may I suggest you take a look at Shape Ways range of 3 D products the B ,C , decks are already on sale there , shuttle bay & shuttles all seem to be accurate , plus the fact just looking doesn't cost anything , it's up to you .

Thanks for the info :) they do have some pretty cool stuff. We are actually working with a 3D artist in the UK and having stl files made for this kit for our shop. Hopefully in 2024 we will be releasing those.

Sorry thing is that you are using the current 1/537 model kit with those god awful formed panel lines vs the original smoothie. I wish they would retool this back to the way it once was. I'm just glad I kept my original smoothie and rebuilt it using the green strawberry parts and it looks fantastic now.

I can’t believe how bad the 1/537 actually is the first video I watched of someone billing it they didn’t mention how bad it was if green strawberry feels the need to Improve it you’ve probably done something wrong

It is a horrid kit. No clue why it was even put out on the market again. They could have done so much better for hobbyists with a new tooled 537 scale Enterprise.

Green Strawberry produces excellent resin replacement parts, however, the 1/537 Enterprise Refit simply ISN'T worthy of applying resin upgrades too. Atleast not to the engraved hull kit. AMT royally screwed the pooch when they did that!! (I'd find a SMOOTHY, before using resin replacement parts)

I agree Greenstrawberry is awesome :) and this kit is definitely a bomb and my second go at it. This time no bondo all sanding and no storing it in a hot attic for it to warp :(
