I have an original one. It came with a camper too! The camper is bigger and goes over the roof of the car. Molded in white. I built it when I was in 5th grade and luckly I didn't paint it. It is ready for a re build. It has the snow tires too! Great video brother!

You find so many cool kits that I've never seen before! I just found your channel a couple of days ago and have watched quite a few videos. Thanks for all the tips and I hope to see lots more builds from you!

Been watching your videos for about a month now. Finally got me a kit and paints to do my first model since I was about 13 "31 now". My dad and I always built models together. I love how you always say "it's your model you build it how you want it for you". Hopefully this 90's Earnhardt Lumina turns out good. Thank you for the inspiration to come back to a relaxing hobby.

Thanks for the great details of your build. I was really glad to see how basic this kit is. Love the one piece chassis with metal axles, the one piece "glass" assembly and an interior bucket. I've fallen out of love with super-detailing so this looks like a kit I'll enjoy playing with.

Good build Chris and yes, Gary is a wealth of information on these older kits. I am planning on kit bashing this one with the Revell 65 Malibu Z16 to make a phantom Z16 El Camino, wish me luck with this one. Cheers

Ahhh I remember the El Camino with the bucket seats in the back. Man in the 80's they were all over the place in California. They had that huge metallic flake paint jobs, they looked like carnival bumper cars. Great vid Chris. As always terrific job in the build. Build on Brother.

love this kit!! moms ex boyfriend built this car for me when i was a child, i played with it till i was a teenager when i knew it all and took it apart and tried to paint it, turned it into a sad mess, recently found the re issue of it and bought both it and the 65 chevelle wagon in the crew wagon or whatever it was released as, it built out in very nice form, thanx for your version too

i first built this kit in 1968. its exactly the same as back then,even the boxart. the one pc interior tub and chassis/exhaust system was pretty standard for the industry until around 1966. amt and mpc started giving more suspension detail. the 1967 ford galaxy was very realistic,as was the mustang. mpc..not so much. but they did start making separate rear axle,driveshaft,and exhaust system

Cool build and review, Chris. The last few issues of this kit has been somewhat of a conundrum regarding the taillights. IIRC the chrome bezels were removed at one time. Now it looks like the bezels are back, but no stock lenses. Anyways I'll get another or two. Thank you.

I’ve got that same model, only I built it back in the early 80’s but still pretty much the same model! The one I have I think you could build it as stock or Drag version and it came with the topper too and it’s the same undercarriage as that one too! Oh don’t get me wrong I like the model, I still have it, there’s a picture of it on my channel ( Hensley’s Hobbies), I built it as a Drag version along with a station wagon of the same year! I have a Big Block in mine, actually both vehicles! But yours is going to be very nice too! 👍👍
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
Very cool, it would be sweet as a draggin Camino.

Completely awesome build Chris- really nice compliment to the bulldozer, and the AMT 1972 Chevy blazer 'crew chief" I believe you built earlier. They all seem to be from the same construction company :) Might there be a small diorama in the works later featuring these three?! Loving all these service vehicles- keep em coming!

Hello again I think I watch more of your videos than anyone else’s. Really enjoy them but being curious what do you do with all your finished kits because you build a lot. Do you put them in acrylic cases? Also can u talk about the tools and airbrush/compressor etc you use.
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
Some are stored in large glass cases in the house, some are carefully boxed up and a few are given as gifts to people that liked that car or boat, etc. I went over some tools in earlier videos, such as the stash video, etc. Depending on the build I'll touch on tools and stuff. It's sort of spread over the videos over time so that no one gets sick of me repeating the same stuff.
@kitparts33675 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you use the silver pencil on the badging? I was looking forward to seeing how that came out! Has that been your default method for badging?

Great build. I have a question about the spray paints that you use. I used Rustoleum 2X primer on my model body, but I used Rustoleum 2X paint and primer for the color and I got wrinkles all in the paint seconds after applying. What did I do wrong?
@hpiguy4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, could be anything but as you see I don't have those issues. I've sprayed every brand of paint over that 2X primer without issues.
@jerryboyette52264 жыл бұрын
@@hpiguy The red and amber paints that you use to paint tailamps and marker lamps, could you tell me the item numbers or where to order those from? Thanks
@gustavoreyes73665 жыл бұрын
I really like you build! I noticed on the finished model next to the box somehow the car looks somewhat bigger than 1/25th scale or is the box faceing sideways for this scene.
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
The art on the box isn't life-size to the model.
@malikdigger45445 жыл бұрын
1:21 first time ive seen the exhaust system & suspension molding with chassis normally that would have been separated cool kit tho is the 72 K5 Blazer kit part of the ( Gear Huster) from last year same theme or not?
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
Yup, the same company theme and logos in all three kits.
@chipcool66545 жыл бұрын
I think it would be cool to have a model car kit that comes with paint waterslides for the whole body - like livery’s for the front fenders and the door and the hood and body all one color that you can put on to just have decal paint
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting. Some of the race cars come close to that.

unless there's a Catalina besides the Gasser, it's not on the Catalina. PS - I love your videos.
@bradysullivan88085 жыл бұрын
The only problem I had when I built this one is there was a chemical reaction when I glued the windows in and it cause a giant hole in the roof.
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
Uh oh! That's usually caused by too much model glue. Model glue melts plastic, that's how it joins parts. Too much in a thin area like the roof will melt through. In the case of CA glue, it heats as it dries, that could also be the cause if you used super glue to attach the glass.
