Very nice. One of the best builds of the BOP I've ever seen, and certainly the best BOP diorama I've seen, your Vulcan landscape here looks perfect! Also I'm very impressed with your work ethic, I find it rather hard to finish models, but you finish yours with a great amount of skill and patience. Thanks for showing!

That turned out very nicely, despite the pains it gave you along the way. Nice work. "Everybody remember where we parked."

You know, some months back I mentioned that I would've preferred light gray panels in lieu of the yellow green ones you added, but I changed my mind. This build is just flipping GORGEOUS as is!

Beautiful job! Despite your feelings of mistakes you might have made, this model looks awesome! Partly because of the original design and partly because of your great painting and lighting and modeling on it. This was my favorite star trek ship design, along with the original Romulan from the 60's. I only tried to paint one model I made, the Darth Vader tie fighter from the original Star Wars movie, and that was just black panels on a grey ship! Now I see whata good paint job can do to a model.

Quite fine work! Very glad you finished this one!!! Hope you light many more models. It really puts a build on a whole other level. You can always get some 1/350 naval figures and add them way down the line.

Hands down the coolest Star Trek spaceship ever, and probably the 2nd Coolest of all time...next to the _Millenium Falcon_ of course.

Great job. To play the role of critic, I probably would've replaced the yellow-green panels with bright gray ones; while I realize you took artistic license with this -- and it looks fantastic, regardless! -- those grays add a whole new dimension of contrast to panels on the main body and wings. Regardless, amazing work.

That is a BEAUTIFUL model! Great job! You've captured one of my favorite scenes from the TOS films. I'm planning on building my BoP in the same configuration as yours, with a minor exception: it will depict it from The Voyage Home, with "HMS Bounty" painted on the side. I might add the crew too. :) Magnificent project! Well done!

Fantastic! I was dubious of the use of yellow for the navigation lights, but it turned out great. I'll be doing a similar setup for a third KBoP, though mine will be landed on Qo'Nos, and I'll definitely be using this build as a guide for the landing pad.

@Lee78072 It's shown that way on the box art, but not in the movie. Also if they parked it at an angle all of their knick-knacks would slide off their dressers when they parked.

Fabulous work. I would've suggested running the brass supports through a wooden brace underneath the plaster. And using them to conduct electricity to the model. Either tubes for wires or straight brass rod, soldered to. Say not 'so'-- you must continue lighting, if I may impose on our brief acquaintance-- you do it well and, hey bud, take a look at that model again. Heartache, grief, sure! But just look at that model.

Happy modelling : )

If you had to sell this completed model, what kind of price do you feel something like this would be worth to a buyer? $200? $500? A $1,000? I'm sure you don't want to sell it , I was just curious what this might bring from a potential buyer if you got tired of it. I remember playing with my models in grade school and eventually destroying them accidentally as I used and enjoyed them. They could only take so much abuse! ha ha. Beautiful job on your model. thanks for posting the 7 steps.

I LOVE THIS BUILD! I'd like to use the same type of base for a Martian War Machine I'm building, although I've never worked with pigments. Question: did you airbrush the pigments? It sure looks like it based on the masked off frame. What process do you use for airbrushing pigments?

Awesome videos ... I've been watching your old ones as I'm just researching better use of pigments ... You use that odorless thinner .. does that seal in the pigments or will they eventually rub off ... I'm asking because I'm going to be painting up some bolt action vehicles soon which will be handled quite a bit, the only other type of sealant I have is the army painter anti-shine spray, and some cheap spray varnish used for protecting oil / acrylic paintings. :D
@ThePaintingClinic
@ThePaintingClinic 8 жыл бұрын
The thinner gives light protection. It will still rub off with heavy handling. Spray varnish will eat most of it away.
@TheRunesmythe

For something that's going to be used for gaming (i.e. it will be handled a lot) you could try using an acrylic semi-gloss or matte. I mention both because it depends on how matter you want the finished look to be; acrylic matte tends to be *very* flat and will knock most, if not all, of the shine out of most metallic paints, whereas a satin semi-gloss will give you a less flat finish that's not super glossy by still retains some of the metallic sheen as well on parts that are painted metallic.

Looking at that model and pondering. If that ship DID exist, was there really room for those whales? I’m thinking no way they could’ve fit whales in there. Hollywood movie magic! It’s a great build. Too bad the reliant went down in flames

Robert Dambeck HMS Bounty was famous for its mutiny. The crew of the Enterprise committed mutiny to save Spock and Bones. The Botany Bay transported convicts from the UK to Australia. The difference is quit large and not nit picky... We all make mistakes and most are not a big deal
