While I think it's a very cool knife and I love the sheath design, the price point borders on extortionate. As a knifemaker I know what goes into a custom blade and I can tell you this is a very easy design to make. Also, I would imagine the company cnc cuts the blanks and then hand grinds which really does not take much time. There are many many other brands that do the same at a much lower price point. Also, the utility is really one note and that is as a last ditch self defense weapon. As an edc or backcountry knife it would not be my first choice just because of the blade shape. It is built to stab things and will be fairly mediocre at most other tasks. There are many other small blades that serve the same purpose and will do it just as well for far less money. And my philosophy on a defensive blade is that I don't really need a premium steel either as I am not going to use it all the time to cut things. It is there to be a weapon and therefore only needs to stay sharp long enough to put some holes in meat. I would absolutely be a buyer at closer to 150-200, but 400-500 is high end, fully custom folder/bushcraft knife territory where you get much more for the cash. But still, really cool design, especially that little sheath. Check out some lf the offerings from tops knives, bradford, white river and even cold steel. There are for sure some much cheaper options that will fill the same role and still be very good quality.

@@CorkKNIFE It may cut, but will it keeel? Oh, it will? OK then. Seriously though, I don’t own this blade at the time of my typing this, but I can say with full confidence that if you’re going for absolute value based primarily around cost then mid tier semi-custom production knives are probably not for you. And that’s OK. Old Cold Steels are my go to hard use flippers for that very reason, and to a lesser degree so are Mora’s for fixed blades that punch way higher than their weight. That said, my main belt knife is a ba Winkler Survival Striker that cost me ~$425, because it doubles as a sharpened pry bar and could probably cut (fracture, really) a poor quality blade in half if I ever needed it to. The Striker is also designed to hammer using the butt if the knife. So, just like everything else, your mileage may vary. Good discussion brothers. Bottom line: Imho this package seems like a reasonable purchase if it meets your needs. The price vs. cost of production seems appropriate.

I was using my knife stripping some wood for kindling and the tip broke off. The Velcro on the sheath pulled away from one of the rivets. I took pics and emailed Bill....who was AWESOME. He called me and offered to fix the blade and send me a new sheath. Sent him the blade, it was reshaped and sharpened and sent back. Unfortunately, the tip broke again. I sent it to a local blade sharpener to have it fixed again. At that point, I stopped carrying it. Maybe I got a bad piece of metal? I don’t know. I do know Bill was great to deal with and stands behind his product. The knife, sheath and trainer are well executed. It’s definitely a good “do everything” knife. I chose not to bother Bill with my issues any further. Dude has better things to do. I chalk it up to a bad buy-knife, gun, car, House, ex-girlfriend....It happens.

The $500 price tag is offensive if the latter is the case. You did state it in the video and it is very important this is not for opening boxes as you stated to I believe this is strictly a defensive knife and should never be drawn out of the holster unless you plan on using it. Definitely going to email them and try to get their practicing tool thanks for the video .. I really like the design, reminds me on the old scottish sgian dubh knives. But: for self defense, i carry a victorinox paring knife, costs $4. It's not the price of the knife, but how you use it. Look at Scott Babb and Ed Calderon from libre fighting, and Ed's manifesto. I had made a kydex sheat, was way more expensive than the knife i carry. So for this price i could have one sheath and a hundred victorinox paring knives. When you fly to another country, take just the sheath with you. Usually them vic knives are in almost every airport in convenience stores or gift shops for sale, so i am already armed when i leave the airport. When i fly back, i just ditch the knife. This is very common in criminal culture, just so you know.

I think for that price you should be getting S35VN or at minimum S30V steel....no M390. I am a CNC machinist and worked for Rick Hinderer for a while, so I know good blade steels and the knife making process world, I just think you can get a lot more knife for less money, or equal value when you compare this knife to other more expensive blades. M390 is def easier to sharpen than S35VN....but for an expensive EDC, I will take S35VN every time. For a camp knife if something you need to use to make fire....I get it, but most good fire steel or fero rods will come with a steel to use for sparks....

Personally, I look at this as a custom knife so to serious collectors and aficionados (like myself) I can also appreciate this knife to be a piece of art, functional art.
