Amtrak Borealis at St Paul Union Depot

While attending Train Days at Union Depot in St Paul, Amtrak’s newest service, “The Borealis”, prepares for its daily run to Chicago. The train began service May 21, 2024, and is a second daily train between Chicago and Minneapolis-St Paul, complementing the daily Empire Builder.
Train Days is an annual event held at Union Depot since 2014, and features vendors, food trucks, model trains and tours of locomotives and train cars in the platform. This year, equipment displayed included a GP38-2 from the Twin Cities & Western, an SD9-3 from the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, a Soo Line caboose from the Minnesota Transportation Museum, and CP 9375, the first locomotive painted in the new CPKC scheme.
This video shows the Borealis arriving the depot from its overnight parking space on the SPUD spur, then it awaits its 11:50am departure, which it made on time.
