Amtrak California NEW Venture Cars - Are They An Upgrade?

Thanks for this tour! I love riding Amtrak, and am looking forward to seeing these new cars one day. The upgraded bathroom and the automatic doors between cars look so nice! I would miss the cafe car, though.....but maybe that will be included by the time I take a ride on one of these Venture cars.

look at the large tables, there's an extra section in front of each seat that can be pulled towards you to increase the space

That's what I thought too! Both myself and the guy sitting across from me tried several times to make it do anything to no avail. :(

We did a round trip on the San Joaquin from Richmond to Bakersfield and back during the first week of April....no sign of these new Siemens venture cars.

For now, they are running the one car set they have so far on the 710 southbound and 719 northbound trains. They say the rest will be in service by the end of 2025.

I’ve ridden them and the seats are a massive downgrade. They made my back start hurting after 2 hours and I don’t even have back problems. The interior is nice, but I’d ride the bus next time than risk riding these.

Outside appearance? Definitely a downgrade

Interior is sterile and doesn't compare with Brightline's Venture cars.
