Took this train earlier this year. Along the way, we saw the largest gathering of bald eagles I have ever seen-there must have been over thirty birds near the shoreline. Spectacular! 🦅🦅🦅

I took this route earlier this year with my nephew. It was his first train trip and he loved it. Definitely my favorite car free way to get to Vancouver.

Enjoying your trips so very much!! More places to put on my bucket list, thank you!! The second choice of music was calming and nice for the water views.

Wife and I did a day trip in mid September, weather was beautiful and the skies were clear. Had a great time, btw the breakfast sandwich was so good I had a second.

Even with the whoop-de-do $3 chit for the café car, business class is an absolute must on this trip. Besides the 1+2 seating (excellent for solo travelers who are riding for transportation rather than to meet strangers en route), the conductor wasn't kidding when he said it might take a while to get through Customs! When I rode this train business class was sold out, and I ended up in the last car to be allowed to go through Customs -- a 45 minute wait, much of it standing in the drizzle on the platform. Not an auspicious start to my weekend! That said, I fully agree with the point of your video that this is one of Amtrak's most picturesque routes!

We were able to do this trip on points, as well. We stopped in Everett to visit some friends and then continued down to Seattle.

Business class is nice and you do get first in line for customs which may be worthwhile if you have a tight connection at the airport. If you have time before your flight, Machete Mexican Ancestral Food is close by the station. A little farther are Gusto and Nuba. The Expo Line is next to Pacific Central Station. It will get you to the airport in about 45 minutes, but you have to change to the Canada Line or you can walk to the Olympic Village Station if you'd like to enjoy the views along False Creek . If you want to watch the shore from business class, best to board in Seattle before the oceanside seats are all taken.

Just curious if the cafe car menu changes post border crossing, such as what happens on the Maple Leaf?

Isn't there a VIA Rail train that you can take as far north as Prince Rupert, B.C.? Which is almost as far as the border with Alaska. Not sure if there is public transportation from Prince Rupert to Alaska and points further north from there.
@Double0pi12 күн бұрын
You can take the Alaska Ferry from Bellingham to Juneau and onward to Whittier. If you go all the way to Whittier, you can then take the Alaska Railroad all the way to Fairbanks via Anchorage.

@@Double0pi Google Maps shows there's a passenger ferry from Prince Rupert to Juneau to Whittier. There's also a VIA Rail train that goes 1st from Vancouver to Jasper, Alberta, then change to a 2nd train going from Jasper to Prince Rupert. The direct Vancouver - Prince Rupert ferry segment is about 600 miles. The Vancouver - Prince Rupert train journey takes ~73 hours.
