Amtrak Coast Starlight #11 at Klamath Falls Station-Amtrak 300-2 Days before Moorpark Incident

This was filmed Monday night, 6/26/23, as Amtrak Coast Starlight Train #11 rolled into the Klamath Falls, Oregon station. It was running 20 minutes late. There was a crew change and about a 10 minute stop for the passengers. This was two days before this train was involved in hitting a truck near Moorpark, CA on 6/28/23. Luckily there were no fatalities and just one serious injury (as of now, 6/29/23).

I was actually about to ask you about the Moorpark derailment, but it seems like you found out. 300 was severely damaged but I think it could be repaired since the ALC-42’s have removable noses. I’m shocked that it happened for the very first ALC-42 manufactured. 307 happened to get less damage after hitting a truck in Louisiana last year but was repaired, and I think 312 got some fire damage whilst doing a test somewhere in the south.

My friend messaged me about it last night and that’s how I found out! So crazy because we were actually just planning out a trip for my mother in law to come visit us via Coast Starlight and San Joaquins, and then we found out about it. I was hoping since it was so new that it could be repaired.

I believe so! It's the first "long" stop on the journey where you can get out and walk. They were running 20 min late so I don't know if they cut it short because of that.
