Those are some stunning views of the California coast. Thanks. BTW, the LINKUS project includes an expansion of Union Station, including the first ever runthrough tracks in preparation for the HSR trains. The project is in the process of being finalized. Construction could begin in a couple of years. Very exciting public transit projects going on in LA. Personally, I can't wait for the LAX People Mover and the extension of the D subway line to UCLA. Thank you! LA was very friendly on my first time around & all the future projects will no doubt keep me coming through the city for more experiences.

Shoulda gone across the street from Union Station to Philippes for an original French dip sandwich!!

Philippes is absolutely on my list! Next time for sure, saving up to really enjoy myself with a big beef.

Such an enchanting view I forgot to listen well enough to the announcements. Thank you!

I know Amtrak Surfliner has the name, but I personally prefer the Metrolink services from LA to Ventura and through Orange County. Newer, nicer, cleaner cars...but no cafe cars (I believe).

I may have missed it, but what was your reasoning for riding backwards? Enjoyed the video, Thank you!
@StevesWanderlust15 күн бұрын
Ah yes, all the forward facing window seats remained occupied on the coastal side of the train through daylight hours.

I'm sure it's probably obvious, but the California population boom centered around the car and freeways. With passenger rail dead, rail corridors were relegated to industrial and marginal land use (trains being a noisy, dirty, undesirable neighbors). California is desperately trying to "re-invent the wheel" by using existing rail to re-establish passenger rail service, but it's why many of the city views are the abandon, backside of a city and not a Disney version of rail travel until after Ventura.

Indeed, but that's an important part of the context, too.
