I caught 148 on the Capital Limited at Germantown, Maryland. It past and when I was on the way home, the dispatch said they hit a tree and only one of the lightbulbs were damaged.

Now that’s some sweet horn action! Normally these horns sound a bit choked, so it’s nice to hear a sweetly tuned one. Great catches

Solid! It’s nice to see one of my favorite locations return at 0:43 I love the Doppler effect you get from those bridges! Great video man, it also sounds like they touched up the K5LA a little bit on this loco it sounds a bit cleaner then the last time you got it.

Thanks! I've been going to Sorrento Valley for many many years... that freeway overpass is a great horn enhancer! Haha!

Sucks that NF K5LA's like this are super rare nowadays. Feels like they were on almost every P42 engine 10 years ago.

They were! That's why I try to grab shots of the NF ones while I can... these are Amtrak's last "real" engines and horns running... once the 42's are retired there will be no incentive to see Amtrak... least for me! haha!

@@AmtrakCal462 AMTK 63 was leading on the Texas Eagle 21 yesterday. Got to see it luckily. Was the first NF K5LA i've heard in like a month.

@@AmtrakCal462Yeah it’s truly wild they refuse to use any of the older style K5LA’s on the Siemens equipment, it’s more than possible. I wish I knew some guys in the maintenance or repair shops still, unfortunately the two I know of are retired. But knowing someone can help get answers and even increase the likelihood of getting a NF thrown on the new stuff.
