Sorry for the long delay between videos. Life got in the way. Trying out some new video editing software, so excuse any mishaps that might have snuck in.
Today I did a transmission oil change with filter on the black P38. You won't be able to change all the oil in the system as about half or so still remain in the torque converter and won't drain using this method. To replace all the fluid you will need to do a full flush using the transmission cooler lines to drain and add new fluid as the car is running and circulating all the oils. A video on that will come in the future.
First I'll check on some rubbing and clunking noise during left turns in round-abouts and during engine starts down hill. I suspect a worn right side engine mount rubber. Leave me some feedback on your thoughts in the comments.
We'll also do a quick check under the car while we have it up on the lift. Verify that the AC compressor is working, checking the exhaust and the zerk grease points on the prop shafts.
Check out video # 25 for replacing the center silencer: • Range Rover P38 # 025 ...
For the transmission you'll need some parts:
RTC4653 oil filter
RTC4276 / RTC5818 o-rings for oil filter
RTC4268 oil pan gasket
or a kit that contains all the above: DA4500
RTC4098 drain plug
RTC4099 drain plug washer
TYB100080 fill plug
TYF101170 fill plug washer
TQW100030 pick-up tube
RTC5735 (x6) pan bolts
RTC5734 (x2) middle straight fasteners pan
RTC5733 (x4) corner fasteners pan
Remember to replace the copper washers on the drain and fill plugs to avoid leaks.
This normal oil change requires approx 5-6 liters (quarts) of ATF Dexron III transmission oil.
