Finding this after hearing about Toriyama's death. I remember finding the original version of this before KZbin was a thing. Insane how DB / DBZ influenced me over the years. I have the dvd for this movie in storage. I'll watch it this weekend.

@@maboroshistudio I really like it, especially as an injection of nostalgia! It has that anime-first vibe about it that's more about sharing meaningful moments of the anime than slick micro-sync. Ahaha I gotta admit I actually liked the green; it had a muddy quality that fit the song somehow, but lol this was one of the first videos I loved, so I'm honestly just being super biased to a really positive memory XD!

I remember watching this AMV back in 2007. Those days, I was hooked on DBZ coming back from high school. It was AMVs' like these that inspired me. For as far as I remember, The Original AMV introduced me to Mettalica's album "Load." Glad to see that you've preserved such a beautiful piece of work. Godspeed to you.

I've been binging this since the news of Toriyama's death. The original version was something I downloaded off of Limewire back in the day and was an AMV I watched over and over. Thanks for the memories. It's been bringing back a lot of nostalgic memories the last several days, and I think it says a lot about the enduring power of Toriyama's legacy that an AMV over 20 years old can be fondly remembered.

I always find it cool when someone goes for an updated version of their own work. You know, one of those "How will it look now with our current level of knowledge and skill." I quite liked this, though admittedly I haven't seen it in its original form so I'm having fresh eyes to this. Now I'm interested about this green tint matter haha 😄

ehhh the green stuff drove me insane... $1,500 brand new video capture card with a busted color module. The video keeps true to the original but we were very lazy with the original edit. I worked in a lot more footage / re-added stuff we originally wanted like Android 8.

I remember around 2000 or so, I bought a bunch of CDs with all of the DBZ episodes in RealPlayer format from some shady guy in Staten Island, NY from Yahoo! Auctions. One of the discs had AMVs on it and this one was on there too, with the green tint and all. It ended up being one of my favorites and it’s amazing to see how many people loved it too. It looks and sounds amazing and brings back memories of a simpler time in my life. Thank you for remastering this one and letting us enjoy it as it was intended without the hardware constraints.

I only watched DB after watching this a few years ago long after watching GT and DBZ and wow was it worth it. The passing of the story back then was so much better and the fights so much more interesting not to mention the character growth. Brilliant edit and remaster.

Glad to see the originators remaster, I always look for this every once in awhile. Total shot in the dark: Do you or anybody remember The History of Trunks AMV set to Our Lady Peace's "Is Anybody Home?" I have vivid memories of it, and have never been able to re-find it. It only uses footage from the Trunks movie and does the mid song swell right when Trunks turns SSJ, reminds me a lot of how this only has clips of the Dragon Ball movie and incorporated Goku's Kamehameha wave into Hero of the Day's mid song swell.

well.. its nice to see a different version and all.and i sure apreciate the hard and quality work.. but since its made by the same people, i wish they preserved some details i use to believe was intentional. in the original. the moment when the beam of power breaks the sky there is a change in the music, and there is a note in the background beeing sustained. and it gives dept to the scene in the right moment. so if it was an accident , was a happy one. its the part i watch the most. but that been said. thanks for the nice job on this one , and the superb job on the original!

It was by chance if it was in the original as we would let scenes run way longer then… everything was intentional in this version and simply the beat was changed to a different scene. The beat I think you are talking about I switched to a closeup that I felt was more powerful after the beam breaks the sky.

oh man, thank you Toei, Metallica, Maboroshi, KZbin... this is like watching it for the first time, I noticed a lot of colors, now I know it was because the original greenish issue which was cool because the dragon is green as well.... I noticed the new scenes, Oolong, Yamcha, Android No 8... but but but .... you reduced the original last part, with the landscape having the spining sky, that was awesome, and the descruction of the robot should take more seconds with the music fading off, that was really dramatic and cool
